    Hi all,

I've been looking at getting a nylon string classical guitar. I've seen a few Salvador Cortez models. Has anybody had any experience with them or have an info on them. Very little comes up on the web about them so I'm at a bit of a loss.

    Cheers

I don't think theirs many nylon heads on boards, was looking for info my self when buying a second guitar, maybe better to look for some Spanish / classical forms to get info instead.

The only info I can give with my limited experience with steel string guitars is don't buy cheap.
At a bare minimum make sure that it has a solid top not ply on some makes it can only be an extra 10-€20. Most suppliers will state weather it has a solid top or sides in a 4/4.

Have a look here for some tips http://www.musicgearreview.com/category/Classical_Guitars

I did find some info in here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=395
but again it is mainly pro stuff etc.

In the end I went for a solid Spanish Manuel Rodrigues.

If you find any more interesting stuff let me know................

Thanks for the comment, I must have a read around the links you provided.

    In the end I went with a CC-220 ( http://www.tfoa.eu/the_store/index.php?target=products&product_id=33772 )

There was one available in a shop in Bray, and with Christmas being over I managed to get €200 off. I just went in and played it and loved the feel and sound. I'd never played one but I was really surprised.

    Cheers

Nice, i wanted to go for a full body in the end for mobile acoustic's, but for plugging in that 220 looks really sweet will keep it in mind for the future though ;) Just noticed they've got a similar John Lennon arch top to mine on the site have to give them a shout to see what their looking for it.

Actually thats the strange thing is I wasn't looking for an electro acoustic, it sounds really good unplugged and really full considering the thin body and side sound hole. I've been itching for an archtop myself but I'm going to be good and hold out till the autumn.

I just bought one from the music shop where I work, i tried it once and fell in love with it. Not a nylon afficionado by any stretch of the imagination but it's a beautifully made, and very well balanced guitar. It rings, and rings, and rings...and rings.. :P
Plus the fishman electronics are great, no colouring from what i've heard so far.
    It's this one; http://salvadorcortez.com/cs62ce.html

The only fault i have with it is that according to the website, it's mislabled, my guitar says cc 60CE, but that would mean that i'd gotten the b-band electronics, which I didn't. I think this might be more a website error though, no biggie.
so yeah, for the money they're definitely a fabulous guitar, in a humble steel-string players oppinion.
    Peace :)

In the end I picked up a CS220, http://salvadorcortez.com/cs220.html (Thats the new version, different electronics on the new ones) Absolute beauty to play, not that I can give it a real work out. A friend of mine is a wonderful player and when he sits down with it, it just sounds great. I hope you enjoy yours as much.
