Just caught the end of something on the radio about it, Eight units of the fire brigade have gone up there and some flights are being redirected.

Garda have said there is a major incident and are asking people not to go up Airport hill. Area around airport closed off.

A small plane burst into flames on landing. unconfirmed reports that there were 15 people on board.

Edit: apparently 2 ambulances are leaving the airport with a Garda escort.

There are unconfirmed reports that eight people have been killed in a plane crash at Cork Airport.

The Manx2 commuter flight, with 10 passengers and two crew, was en route from Belfast when it crashed in heavy fog at Cork Airport just before 10am.

The Aviation Authority says the aircraft made two attempts to land before crashing.
Witnesses report hearing a loud bang. The aircraft is said to have burst into flames.

Debris has been scattered onto the runway and over a wide area.
Gardaí, fire crews and ambulances from across the city and county are responding.
Gardai are appealing to people to stay away from the airport and for motorists to avoid the area.

Sky news now saying 3 killed and 2 trapped - that came from Cork County Council apparently.

Jesus, you just wouldn't expect it from a short little internal flight, would you? I mean, if I was to be nervous flying, I think transatlantic flights would freak out because I'd perceive more danger. RIP :(

Reports from the airport say that the plane landed and ended up turning over, before the back end of the plane burst into flames. the nose seems to have come off or been buried in the ground

Christ that's shocking - I trained up there too, it's really weird to see this on such a familiar place. You never think this'll happen in your own town. RIP to those who've been lost, and sympathies to the poor people who've survived - they won't be over this for a very very long time.
