    Hi,
when opening a video file with korean subtitles, the characters displayed are not korean but a bunch if illegible characters that make no sense.

I'm using Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 and believe it has worked before with another Korean subtitle file (possibly in .srt format?)

    Any feedback appreciated :)

    Go to :
View > Options > Subtitles > Default Style

Then change the encoding from Default (1) to Hangeul or maybe Hangul.

That didn't change anything I'm afraid :( thanks for the suggestion though :)

EDIT: Although I'm not entirely sure if I did it properly, selected each style, clicked apply, no change while playing, no change if closed and restarted play.

Are you using Directvobsub to render the subtitles (a green arrow pops up on the taskbar)?

If so, maybe try the same thing there, on the text settings change the encoding to one that supports Korean characters.

Brilliant, that seems to have worked! Thanks very much :D

I guess I can expect, if I was to put the video file on an Argosy HD Media Player, that I'd have problems there too perhaps?
