    Friend wants to buy a nice diesel car for about 3k, defo not more than 4k, any suggestions?

    There are a world of different diesel cars within this price range. Really need more information. What are his/her preferences? Saloon/hatchback/estate? Max engine size?

    well he had a 02 golf, so you could guess his taste, he likes the bora too, 1.9 would be the highest I'd say.

    I had a '00 golf and just changed to a Mondeo (Petrol) but there are plenty of Diesel Mondeos around and you'd get a decent year + mileage for €3-4k

    you would get a 2004 mondeo tdci for 3-4k a much better car than similar passat
