I was in town last night and didn't see any of these Hipsters. I don't think they're really here yet. Still a lot of emos hanging around though.
I often wonder do they all know each other or something? They hang around central bank every Saturday for the whole day. Do people just show up and become friends with other emos?
When I was a lad it was goths that used to be here. How did the transition go? Did all the goths just fade away and there was nobody hanging out here and then the emo uprising began?
Also do emos and goths get along, I wouldn't imagine they do.

Trends only last for about 2-3 years max , unless were talking about heroin addicts, they look the same now as they did since the early 90's. In my opinion the years 2009 - 2010 weren't really notable for trends (because everyone has been focused on the economy) but if there had to be one it would be something like that 'hipster' thing that was parodied in "being a dickheads cool". My guess... i see short back and sides haircuts coming becoming fashionable again by 2012.
