This years event is being held on Sunday April 17th. Once again Naas Gaa Club are hosting all cyclists. the 20km and 50km routes are the same as usual. There may be a small change to the 100km route in one of the sections but not much. We hope to see as many cyclists and families out on the day. There will be family activities on during the day for all.

I could very well be in Dublin that weekend. If so I will do it.

@Tiny I will have the car and bike rack if you fancy a lift out.

But it's an extra fiver on the day.

BTW, I can carry an extra bike or two if anyone needs a lift.

Yeah guys there is a change to route this year. At Donard we turn left and do a circuit around the Glen of Imaal area which is very scenic and lovely rolling forested area. Far from fast and furious. The route is on the website www.karetourdefoothills.com

Folks, what time does the 100km start at? I can't find the times on the website, Maybe I'm blind and can't see them!

Is there food at the feedstop on the way? Silly question but its a problem thats arisen on more than one sportive.

    Thanks.

the start for 50km and 100km is at 10am. Reg is open from 8am. There will be food at the stops in Ballyknockan for the 50km and Donard for the 100km. Also hot food when you get back to Naas Gaa for cyclists upon presentation of your wristband. Last year we didnt have enough food at 100km stop but that will not happen this year.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the day.

I think I'll be doing this as well with one non boardsie. Will be my first ever sportive so really looking forward to it.

    See you all there.

Half thinking of doing this to kick start my training for the year. Starting from scratch how much would the 100 k kick my ass?

Doing this with a non boardsie, but he is only appling for his CI licence today so I assume he wont actually have it by Sunday. Do you need the physical card to participate or will your CI number or reference no do.
    Anyone know?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,038 ✭✭✭penexpers

I think the number should do.

Providing the mate who's lending me a saddle gets it to me in time, I'm in for this (and never buying a carbon railed saddle again, no matter how good a deal I get!)

Some sportives require you to have a CI license or to take out a one day license. I did Tour de Foothills a couple of years ago and I thought they required a license but I don't think anyone checked for it.

Also this year a one day license only costs 10% of the entry fee for a sportive (so ~2 euro for this)
