08 VW Golf TDI Match iPod problem.

Hi. I have just purchased a 08 VW Golf that has a genuine VW iPod dock built into the armrest. I have tried 2 iPods and neither have been picked up by the stereo. It's a RCD 300. Is there any button I need to press to activate it? There is also a parrot car kit installed. Could this be preventing the iPod dock not to…

i have a seat leon and it dose not work in mine also was told i have to buy a (vw / seat cable )to work the i pod but it charges it . i never did buy it ,
