Just move to Sligo (town) ..under 10 minutes to either Strandhill or Rosses point and about 30 mins to Enniscrone or Bundoran (and less to other beauty spots inbetween)...plus you get to live in a decent size town with all the necessities at hand.

    And yes ...I'm serious :D
I'll second that. I'm living in Sligo town and surfing regularly, either in Strandhill or Bundoran.

If you're set on a seaside town though I couldn't recommend Strandhill highly enough, nice pubs, nice surf, nice people.

    For me it's....

    1 - Dublin.
    2 - Kinsale.
    3 - Clonakilty
    4 - Ennistymon.
    5 - Sneem.
    6 - Sligo.
    7 - Streedagh.
    8 - Westport.
    9 - Carlingford.

Just recently discovered Ardmore...only 50 mins away. The Cliff Walk and Beach are beautiful.

    lotta great choices.

seems weird, but nice places seems to usually have a big drawback somewhere - like wexford, holidaying dubs, waterford beaches - too close to waterford city (everywhere is though) carlingford - dundalk, greystones - bray.
and the rest are too far from civilisation - dingle, roundstone, that other one

or only have surf beaches lahinch, strandhill

    art, not easy to please

Dunfanaghy in North Donegal is beautiful. By Sheephaven Bay and near Horn Head. Lovely little atmospheric village. Surfing, nice restaurants......

Lahinch is a total dump. I don't get the appeal of it at all.

And it must be the only town in in Ireland that doesn't have a butchers. (I didn't make that up either).

    Bally Bunion hands down.
Nicest beach in Ireland, more pubs/clubs than shops, casino's, good surf during winter and a serious golf course.
