I had mine done in brown thomas limerick at the bliss counter, very happy with the result a lovely shape to them .... you would want to leave them grow for a few weeks before:( to get a good job done . Wouldnt have them waxed anymore .

Where do you get yours done? Sounds like great value for a tricky service

Teresa in The Retreat - Tullamore does mine.

I am a huge fan of threading, there are 2 places in Mayo which do it(there might be more but these are 2 I found in my searching)

    Beautiful Touch in Ballina
    Pauline Cawleys in Castlebar

I had tried different places with the "good" reviews i found on the net..
Went to neela (or whatever her name) in arnotts --very bad experience, rude person and screwed up my eyebrows. I came out with one side pratically no eyebrow left and the other side, thick eyebrows!! 18quids for the mess she left on my face!!!
Went to a place in camden street (dont remember the name) - the woman was nice enough but my eyebrows were left very uneven..
Did not trust any other place (since i have them done very nicely in new york for only 5USD). On top, most of the places in dublin are very expensive (fr 16 to 20ish euros or even more)..
I saw at the Bodyshop in swords at the Pavillions, eyebrows threading for 12euros..The cheapest so far I found in Dublin.. Hesitated but I gave it a go last sunday and I am happy with the girl. Very nice, she listened to you and at least did not screw up my eyebrows. I will def go back..

I'm stunned by how much some of you are paying for threading  I get mine done for £3! Takes all of 2 or 3 minutes plus the time is takes to say 'just a tidy-up' or 'a bit more like this please' and the girls who do it are really good. I don't see how anyone can justify charging 30 euros.

Rip off Republic etc. I assume from your location line and use of £s that you're based in England. Ireland is disproportionately more expensive for everything beauty related (at retail and treatment level)- and all other areas to be honest.

Yeah, I know. I only moved to London from Dublin a year ago, but it's surprising how quickly you forget what a rip-off it can be there!

Edit: Never did get my eyebrows threaded in Dublin, so I didn't know quite how expensive it was.

I wouldnt go back to waxing my eyebrows again after starting threading a few years ago. Originally I went to Nellu in Arnotts but like some other posters, I found her extrememly rude. She was good at her job and got my eyebrows into a fantastic shape which i love but I cannot go back to her as she is always putting pressure on to buy her latest products, or just generally rude and insulting.

I have started going to a lady in Fame salon on georges street and she is lovely. I'm a bit cautious though as I think my eyebrows are getting thinner so must ask her to thicken them up next time.

My best experience of eyebrow threading has definately been with Binni, at Salon Euphoria in Malahide, Co.Dublin. My eyebrows are difficult to manage, and I was never fully happy with waxing/tweezing. I have experienced threading in numerous other places around the city/other countries, and she is the most percise, also very friendly, and gets excellent results every time. Check out http://www.binnisthreading.com/ or call salon euphoria (0) 1 845 4755.

My friend got it done in that place in House of Fraser,Dundrum, and it looked stunning.
Definitely let them grow out a bit first before you go though!

I get my brows waxed for 10 euro by a lovely friendly woman, we have a right laugh together every time I am in

Never tried threading yet but no hurry to as I'm happy with this

I actually went back to fame this week but they have changed their threader to a young asian girl who seemed very nervous at threading and has only being in ireland 3 weeks :-O It hurt worse than waxing ever did this time and i'm slightly disappointed at how the shape has changed and both eyebrows are now different :-(

I did notice in liffey valley there is a lady in the body shop threading for €12. I think I would go and try her before going back to Fame after my last experience.

I had my eye brows threaded for the 1st time last week. I had it done in Arnotts Dept Store Dublin. Lady was very experienced, pleasant but the exp was not great. I have left with very very red eyebrows and swellings around my eyes which has now lasted 3 days!!.

I dont regret trying it out as the brows are neat and tidy looking but prehaps a warning for others not to get this one if you had a evening planned to go out . Ladies in the office all said I should not have swelled up so much and that prehaps the lady was rough. I dont have anything to compare the exp too so cant comment. It did hurt  but just a little however the swelling was very worrying.

I used to get awful red wee bumps after I had mine done in Shavata but since I started going somewhere else to get them done that uses talc before they start I haven't had the problem at all. The girl said it's to do with the friction of the thread going over the skin and that the talc eases it. Works a treat anyway.

    Hi Ash,

Ive been getting my eyebrows threaded for the last year and have tried a few different places (Arnotts, Rathmines, The Body Shop, Avoca, Dorset Street) and I have broken out on all occasions no matter who does it; I always walk away with redness that usually breaks out into spots later and lasts for a few days :( I was told it's just because I have sensitive skin and also beause my hair follicles are quite strong(?) so you're probably the same.....

Still love the shape too much to go back to waxing. If anyone has any suggestions on how to avoid this I'd love to hear about it!

    Hi Donna,

Again I've been told to try other places as every one has different techniques which might bring different results. I agree with you I love the shape just the swelling was very bad. I actually never got any bumps just a brusied looking eye like I'd been punched. The lady did use talc first.

Although I've not yet plucked up the courage to try again I am tempted after coming back here to read the reviews again :). I Might give it ago. I admit I think I do have sentive skin and strong follicles lol so your most likely dead right !

    Good luck inyour pursuits too

There's a woman who does it really professionally and really well, also gives facials and such but she lives in Galway :( Threading is so much better than waxing!

I go to Shavata (I think thats what its called) in Harvey Nicks in Dundrum, I've been about 10 times over 3 years (I dont have any major regrowth so I tend to just tweezer them myself when I dont go but if I havent go in a lonnnng time I go for a reshape) and I have to say its great, I've had my eyebrows waxed once before I started going for threading and I would never do it again horrendous (I regulary go for brazilians so it wasnt that I'd never had a waxing before!). The first time I went for the threading it was the oddest feeling but like I've said I've been about 10 times and I would highly recommend to anyone! The only bit I don't like about it is that its in the middle of the shop so everyone can see when they walk by, although they have moved to a slightly more seculded spot in the shop its still out in the open!!

I learned how to do it myself from watching people on YouTube! I'm on my phone or I'd link to the girl I thought did a great job of explaining. I learned a little over a month ago and I've gotten pretty good. It's easier than you think!

I also go to Binni, she is brilliant so friendly and chatty, she puts you straight to ease and the threading only takes 5 min and gives such beautiful shape. I had mine threaded and tinted for €15. All the girls I work with go to her

Is threading more long lasting than waxing? :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 161 ✭✭LittleFox

I've never had my eyebrows waxed my skin is too sensitive and reacts to the wax, but I got my eyebrows threaded 3 weeks ago and only have one tip of a hair in regrowth right now, I would usually get a month before having to pluck any stray hairs.

Has anyone tried the new place in Tallaght village (just across from AIB bank)? They're advertising threading for €5...I'm a bit skeptical!

God I paid £3 for trim and £5 for a re-shape over in the UK, think I'll have to get my tweezers out again as there is no way I would pay €10 or more for just a few minutes in the chair
