Eyebrow threading

I'm interested in getting my eyebrows threaded. Has anyone had any good experiences anywhere in Dublin?

apparently getting your eyebrows waxed leads to many wrinkles later in life, threading doesn't. have never gotten it done though.

Everyone in india and africa etc does it. Its really quick and there's much less redness and puffiness then waxing. I know a lot of salons in England have it, especially the ones where there's a lot of asians in the area, but I've never seen it over here.

Basically its one really long piece of thread. One end is held between the teeth and then the rest is in a loop around the thumb and index finger of both hands.Then you wind the loop up so that when you lift your head the thread in the mouth pulls it making it unwind. The thread wraps around even the most tiny hairs and then they're pulled out from the root when you pull the thread in the mouth.

I know thats long winded but let me know if it makes sense!

I do it to myself and its really easy to learn. Just practice a bit somewhere else before you go near your eyebrows.

All you do is get a piece of cotton thread tie it firmly in a loop thats around the thumb and index finger of both hands so that there is about 8 or 9 inches between your hands. Wind the thread 9 or 10 times in the middle so when youre holding it it looks like an hourglass on its side. Then just hold it tightly and line up the thread to the hair so that when you pull your index and thumb apart on one hand and lift it slightly as you do, the wound thread moves over the hair and pulls it out.

Basically if you were any good at cats cradle when you were a kid it'll be a cinch.

I thought it hurt way more than plucking or waxing, got it done in New York, but the other girls I got it done with thought it was pretty much the same. I have very sensitive eyes which tend to go red for AGES after plucking, it was pretty much the same with threading, think it even lasted longer!

We have a lot of threaders here as it's a middle eastern tradition.
Personally, I find a good tweezer does a much better and more accurate job.
(I never wax the eye area).

I got it done in a salon in Rathmines (does Eva Belle sound correct?) The assistant gave my brows a great shape, but I found that it just took too long and pricked too much. I usually get them waxed, purely for the speed and I would prefer the waxing to be honest. It was worth trying for the experience though.

Someone also told me recently that threading can break hairs instead of plucking them out at the root. Dunno how true that is, but I found that the hairs grew back much faster than after a waxing.

I know a lady that would go to your house to do so many things.. She charged me 7euro for threading today and 20 for a pedicure-not bad
If you are interested pm me...
She does other things as well waxing, pedicure, manicures e.t.c.... and all really good service and good price

She lives in the city too but she can go as far as swords/clonee/blackrock e.t.c..

I got my eyebrows threaded over the weekend and am definately converted. I had them waxed only occasionally as I didn't like the idea of pulling the skin around my eye and more than strictly necessary and plucked the rest of the time. I am astounded at how great they look now and how quick it was (2 / 3 minutes!).
For those interested I went to the Mandela Spa on Dawson Street and it cost €20.00.

While having a wax I noticed my beautician had fabulously shaped eyebrows - she said a friend of hers does it down in Mandala spa in La Stampa.
I do enjoy plucking my own, so I don't know if I'd ever get it done - but she was a great advertisement for this place, as they were perfect.

Oh I saw too that and it looks so easy xD But I'd be sooo scared to even attempt lol. Maybe the second time I'll do it myself

just did a quick google search and this came up: Salon Euphoria in Malahide if you live anywhere near there.
i would love to get it done in a salon, going to try next time i am in england or scotland as they only charge about £3! i think 15-20 euros is very steep

i tried to thread my own eyebrows for the first time tonight- I followed the tutorial on eily311's youtube channel. i was able to do it and am delighted with the results! you get a much better shape than with plucking

I started getting my eyebrows threaded with bushra a good few weeks ago, I cant get over the improvement in their shape, I love it, she is brilliant, its practically painless and so quick

This may sound like a stupid question but is plucking with a tweezers meant to be bad or give you wrinkles??

not that I know of but im not expert! Id tidy mine up a little bit between threading, just the hairs in the middle etc, I dont mess with the shape cause I love the new shape so much!

it is called Bushras beauty salon, it is located in the mary street mall, if you turn right after pennys on henry street you cannot miss it.

Bushra is great for threading and waxing - there are always loads of people in there getting their nails done so i assume that she is good for that too and nearly half the price of other places

Have to try her out next time I'm near Henry St. Love getting my brows threaded and usually get it done in the spa under Toni & Guy in Clarendon Street but can't really justify 20 euro on it regularly.

Went to Elysian on Dawson Street, Dublin about 3 months ago. The salon is gorgeous, the girl that did it for me was lovely and I came out pretty happy. I was maintaining my brows for a while but they definately needed to be properly looked at so I went to make an appointment with them again but their prices had gone up a fiver to €30. I couldn't justify it!

Got them done in House of Fraser instead. There's a concession stand called Threads. It's not very pretty and it's very public but the shape is lovely and it was only €17! Definately going back....

I go there as well. When i went for the first shaping it was E25 (now E30)then E15 (now E20) for a tidy up once it's within 4 weeks.
I was pretty surprised about the price hike. E5 is a bit steep & they didn't even tell me until I was paying.
But i have to say i'm happy going there. I'm not blessed with natural shape & the girl I go to is great.
I've had too many disasters along the way so I think I'll stick with them.

She only charges €17 & did a brilliant job.

Went into Bushra's salon yesterday to get eyebrows done. Job done very quick and rougher than I would have liked and I have raw red patches of skin around eyes now as though the flesh had been pulled out in bits. Very dissappointed.

I'll not be going back again in a hurry. Didn't like the public seating for getting your eyebrows done. I'll be going back to LA Makeup Academy next time for threading - €17, a bit pricier, but girls are very nice and friendly and chatty and are gentler with my eye area!

Got it done in the vanity rooms in Stepaside Village - found it great - wierd sensation though - bit scary when you have to hold your hand over your forehead in case they cut it with the thread! yikes
