You will probably need the serial number too.

If you remove the stereo you will find a serial no. on the top of it starting with the letter M followed by six digits. If you pass this on to me I can supply the code.

Cheers Plug ! any idea how/where i can get serial/model number without having to try take factory fitted stereo unit out. Special tools are needed to do that i think.

    Tanx glenbO
don't think i can remove factory fitted unit without proper tools. I'd be afraid i'd damage unit.
    Is that the only option?

If you have the owners manual i think it's on a sticker in one of the booklets. It is on my dads Mondeo anyway

What EPM said, check all your books in the car, it can also be on the inside of the glove box. Its a 4 digit code.

Go to halfords and get them to take the radio out. Then report back here with the number.

Have you gone through all the owners manuals to see if there is a sticker inside a cover on them?

Google Mondeo radio removal and you'll prob be able to pop it out no problem.

If all else fails, you can call the Ford main dealer where the car was purchased, give them the reg and they will give you the code free of charge. If you dont know who the original dealer was then any other Ford garage will ask you to bring the car in for a €20 fee.
Check the rear windscreen for a dealer sticker or the reg plate surround.

Iv just purchased a transit van without a stereo but managed to get one at my local scrap yard.after trying to install the radio and inputting the code(the official ford card with stereo serial and code came with it) it still wont work.after entering the code the radio comes on for a second, then screen goes blank and goes back to code input.i brought the stereo back to the scrap yard where the guy gave me another one with code written on it in black marker(8292),he said this one was bought by a guy who got the code himself but was trying to install it in a mondeo and wouldnt fit,but the exact same thing happens when i try to use it.which leads me to believe its not the radio, any ideas??the serial number of this one is m153681 ford radio 6000cd code 8292. thanks in advance
