Fraternities & Sororities. Such a thing in Irish Universities?

    No. We don't go in for that kind of thing 'round these parts.

    As far as I'm aware, fraternities and sororities are exclusive to the U.S. and Canada.

    some in italy and france if i am aware, but not as much as US

    We do, but not to the extent as they do in the US. I like to think that at University level, people tend to mix much more and the cliques start to fade.

    I don't know how true the stories are about the frats and stuff, but I've heard all sorts of first-hand iniation ceremony things from people and if anyone here told me I had to do them, I'd tell them fo f*** off, and then make friends with normal people instead.

    Weirdly, the cliques seem to fade for the first two years, and then come back after that. Essentially people just seem to adapt to their new environment and carry on as before.
