Contract Rearing

    hi guys part time farmer working a 9 to 5 job - i was asked last night if i ever considered contract rearing of calves

    has anyone done this or know of people who have

    what are the pros and cons of this?

    Will be interested in any advice given here as I'm thinking of gettin my calves contract reared down the line, haven't really looked into finer details though.

    Have you experience of rearing replacements? Its not rocket science but alot of guys never have good heifers. Have you good sheds, crush, fencing, etc. It should fit around your job ok until maybe breeding time.

    I know of a fella doin this, he has his own stock bull and rears the heifers from calves for the same lad for about 10 years. He uses an AA bull, but i think he gets him tested fairly regularly
