I know it's an exercise in futility because PSN admins don't seem to give a toss, but make sure you use the grief reporting function to pass that on. That's one of the clearest admissions of guilt you're going to find.

Shame it takes all of five minutes to get an another PSN account.

I can't decide whether it would be better if Sony tried to develop a system of banning machines instead of users. The risk of false positives, or the danger of people getting screwed with semi-useless second hand machines might weigh against it.

But god I wish there was a real ban-hammer that could come down on these clowns.

Thanks for posting that El loco. I was wondering when someone from IW would respond to the complaints about the hacks in MW2. Hopefully they can sort it out before everyone gives up on MW2 for good.

Quick question, is it the hacks which "created" these fun menus or have they simply unlocked them?

Played a good few games yesterday before ending up in a never ending round of S&D with the hacker doing everything he wanted. He had someone how disabled the start button as well so no one could leave the game. His kill count was about 180-0 by the time he finished the game. What I didn't get was how he got any enjoyment cause he spent most of the game stood at our spawn point constantly firing at us from behind.

i was on prestige level 6, and had only managed to unlock the ACR and AA12 completely, i got MW2 on day of release and only play about 2 hours a day, so I always avoided hacked games, as soon as i notice something peculiar i leave. Last week i entered a game and as soon as i got a kill i was awarded 40,000 for that single kill.

I was suddenly in a dilemma, i looked at where i was now, and said to myself it would probably take me another 3 years to unlock every single weapon, perks, awards, emblems, titles completely, so I carried on and managed in 3 games to go up to Prestige Level 8. I was telling myself if i can get to level 10, i can concentrate on unlocking the weapons as i wont have to see them being reset again.

But, on my 4th game i noticed 10%, 20%, 30% and so on appearing, i didn't understand straight away what this was, but it was 100% completion. I should have left at the beginning as the games from there on are a tad boring, nothing really to fight for.

I have been to a few hacked games where I can fly, have weapons with laser beam sights, and can actually leave the borders of the game, this is good, i enjoy it. But i hate where hackers have God mode on and basically tally a score of 7500 - 0.

I contacted Sony PS3 and they said they are working with Activision to fix this security vulnerability, but i doubt they can get me back to where I was as the data is saved on there servers.

Ps3 firmware patch released today, compulsory update, specifically aimed at closing the exploit and rendering machines running homebrew unusable. This should give us a bit of peace from the hackers for a few weeks until the find a work around for this patch.

i just installed the updated firmware, and my game is still fully completed, and the 1st game i entered was a hacked game

I wouldn't expect this patch to have any impact on the XP level anyone is on, at least the hacks aren't scrolling along the bottom of the main menu, before you select find a game.

Can anyone who understands this problem/alleged fix give us some info on the likelyhood of us being able to play unhindered or are Sonys patches futile?

I didn't realise Geohot was the guy who publishised the key for the ps3, I knew he was working on breaking the codes, and he's the main man behind jailbreaking, he gone from being a hero in my mind to being a complete pain in the Swiss :pac:

Be nice if it made their machines explode. Just enough to vapourise anything in 6 foot radius

I went on it yesterday (ps3) , first game i only had a pistol with 1 bullet and the host running round with an acr, second game there was an ac130 constantly in the air , kept getting killed by it but it was invisible. Turned it off after that.

I got into a game on ps3 the other day, the count down timer was on still an I got killed by a headshot thru the buildings, the kill cam showed the guy not even aiming just randomly shooting. He then got a harrier, which came as an ac130, made the sound of a harrier but just pounded everyone. An we were all running around like forest gump, haven't been on it since.

There is a 15th prestige hack so far that I've heard of but none of the stuff that goes on in MW2.

Played for about 2 hours today with only 1 hacker showing up then at around 4 o'clock they all must have gotten home from school.

Getting just as pissed off when they're on my team as well.

got the patch yesterday, it was great for abut 30 minutes, after that every other lobby hacked.

Played few games this morning, every single lobby hacked.

Is it time to give up?

i can definitely say that i won't be buying any call of duty games in the future unless they overcome this vulnerability, not much point starting a new game only to find it getting hacked, this problem will ruin them.

Read online that update 3.56 (the most recent one) was cracked within hours of release.
Hadn't played MW2 for a while but of course since it got hacked I'm dying for a game but can't risk losing all my wonderful toys!

i contacted Activision yesterday by email to complain and get an explanation to see what they are doing and got a response today.

They stated they are working with Sony to try and fix this security breach, they also asked that if I see a player online using a hack, to fill out this form:

And after they check their account to see anything amiss, they can either give them a warning, or if they're advertising or trying to make cash, there account can be deleted.

Thats the problem with sony , while psn is free what difference is deleting an account .
If they took microsoft's policy and banned the console then maybe people would think twice.

Among the limitations on a purchase made through PSN (DLC etc) is that it's usable on a maximum of 5 different machines.

If they're keeping track of what machines DLC is downloaded to, you'd imagine it would be feasible at some point in the future to isolate which machines are associated with which accounts.

However, I don't think Sony would want to ban consoles - they trail Xbox in number of users, they don't charge for PSN multiplayer, and one fewer PS3 on the network is one fewer potential customer for PSN purchases including PSPlus subscriptions, Muvi downloads, or music subscriptions.

Since the update, i've noticed a fair drop off in the amount of hackers in game. There have been a few but they didn't seem to be hacking. So perhaps the system update is working!

I played 10 games after I downloaded the patch.

1st game was SnD. Speed boost

Next 9 games on MTDM ran perfectly

I just want to play Sabotage, HQ and SnD on it though so will have to try them all out again soon.
