Electric thermostat for immersion tank

    I'm looking to fit an electric thermostat to my immersion tank and connect it to the motorised valve that is currently in situ. In theory, once the CH has heated the water in the 100L immersion tank the thermostat with tell the motorised valve to close and therefore the CH has 100L of water less to heat.

    Has anyone done this before? Just looking for advice on anything to be aware of or even recommendations on particular kit to buy for the job. Cheers.

    Thats what a wrap around cylinder stat does

    Thanks JTL. Can I connect this to the motorised valve to shut the water off going into the cylinder?

    I think its actually connected to the boiler and shuts the boiler off. Because of the circuit heating uses once the boiler is on its heating water.

    Do you really need it ? Once the water has heated then your CH is no longer going to loose heat to your cylinder.
