Getting Car Tax form stamped for non use ?

Hi I was just told that you cant get your tax form stamped anymore for non use and that you have to pay any arrears. Thay said it came in ,in the budget, Is this right?? Never heard anything before now. I am 6 months in arrears and was goin to get it stamped in Feb, cant afford the tax let alone the arrears!!!

Whoever told you that provided you with false information. If your car was off the road take this form: http://www.environ.ie/en/LocalGovernment/MotorTax/PublicationsDocuments/FileDownLoad,17194,en.pdf

to the garda station, get them to stamp it and send it off.

Naturally one should reinforce the point to dibbles that he should only do this if the car has genuinely not been used at any time since the last tax disc otherwise he would be committing a serious offence by making a false declaration.

(just in case he thinks it's ok to use it to evade arrears )
