Could it be to do with the mounts???

Does anyone know what the default setting is for the mounts???

All the roms you've mentioned support both tft/oled so I don't think it was that.

Did you try to install a backup too?

Which Clockwork version are you using and has it worked for rom installation before?

Maybe reflash clockwork to sebs latest 2.5.1.8 or the RA recovery and try installing the rom from there.

If none of this works and you think it's lower level/mounts then one of the tpt installs would rewrite from the ground up. If you think you need to go that route, there are a few things that you can actually do besides using the jellyfish repartitioning one, depending on your confidence/trust!

Guys need your help. I tried to install Pauls Modaco Rom R7. Got clockwork installed no probs and install the row.

Now the phone will not boot. Gets stuck on the green android logo!!!

I've tried going back into clockwork and clearing the various cache settings to no avail.

Any ideas? Im stumped and am afraid i've bricked it :(

I've had this problem a few times. May not be the same issue but for me I had to wipe the cache and restore factory default (both possible in CWM) before installing the new ROM. If I don't do this then the boot will not get past the logo stage. I'm guessing because there are conflicting files in the phone.

I managed to fix it by download the additional overclock file for Jellyfish.
I thought it was optional!!! So I reinstalled Jellyfish with the overclock and it worked.

Unfortunately now i have another problem. I get the message "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly". When i take my sim out it goes away. Same deal on on Paul R7 rom. Going to try Seb desoftened version see if that fixs it and if not i'm reverting to stock as it was working on that earlier today.

Thanks for the help and suggestions guys!!

Should have been optional! I would guess that your not using the latest version of clockwork (Maybe 2.5.1.3?) and it craps out with the updater script of the rom but the oc'd zip is older and the updater script in that works with your clockwork. I could obviously be wrong though!!:)

Are you restoring things with Titanium? That would be what I would guess is your problem with the process stopping. Going from 2.1 to 2.2 you most certainly cannot restore system apps (which is easy to do if your not careful) and generally will have a difficult time restoring data (like contacts) because the sqlite db schema etc is too different going from 2.1 to 2.2.

If that's the case your best bet is to use titanium to delete data in phone, contacts etc or try reinstalling and restoring more carefully and pulling contacts from your gmail account if you've synced them.

    No im using clockwork 2.5.1.8

I setup initially using this guide. http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/329073/19-jan-guide-how-to-install-a-custom-rom-on-the-zte-blade/

The install firmware stage simply failed to work for me so I decided to use clockwork. Of course I had no clue you need to wipe the cache and settings when using clockwork to install a rom for the first time. I think thats what may have caused the problem initially. But it was weird when I went back into clockwork and did that and reinstall again it simply wouldn't work. Must of spent about 3hours of trying different roms to no avail. In the end, what did the trick was Formating everything in the mounts screen and reinstalling jellyfish with the overclocked file. I had tried other roms with the formatting done and they didn't work. However now I can install any rom.

However now my main problem is the the message "the process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly". I get this message over and over again. Its so annoying. Renders the phone unusable with the sim in. Quick google tells me its sim related. Haven't found a solution yet.
    Still on Pauls R7 rom.

    Thanks

Loving this phone so far. Probably not using it to it's full ability though!

Anyway, this might be a stupid question but I got the Nokia E71 silicone case for it there and it fits really well but I had to make an opening on it for the power button. Is it possible to change the way you wake up the phone instead of using the power button all the time? It's really awkward with the case on to press the power button all the time when I want to use the phone.

Glad you got it installed! I don't know if this is still applicable on any ROMs but people who had SIM pin locks had trouble on previous releases. Maybe put your sim into another phone and see if yours has a pin lock and remove it if it does.

Good luck, wish I knew more to help.

Ok quick update. I flashed back to the stock rom and now the phone works fine. Its seems to be the custom roms that are causing the problem.
I'm gonna keep it for a few days and see if anyone figures out a solution to the other problem.

Ok a couple of noob questions:

    1. Now that i'm back on the stock orange rom will i need to root the phone again? Or is it a case that now Clockwork is on the phone it is already rooted and no need to ever do it again?
    2. Whats the best backup solution out there. I used Clockwork to backup Pauls rom when i had a few apps installed. However its only really the custom apps, settings and contacts that i really need to reinstate. The operating system is somewhat interchangeable at the moment as I try out different roms.

    Thanks

I think, but maybe wrong, but you have to connecct to market through 3G at the first attempt.

Clockwork isn't supposed to be opened by your PC (only extracted), the .img needs to be put into the fastboot folder and then flashed to the recovery partition of your phone using the command line with your phone in fastboot (volume-up + power) mode.

You may also try seb's app and the installation method here

Running out of space in /Data?
heres a mod to give you 333MB data :D

I did a Nandroid and copyied Boot.img, Data.img (renamed to userdata.img) and System.img into the TPT repartitioning's Image\ folder and it worked perfectly!

Beware: your System.img must be under 122MB for this to work
only Japanese Jellyfish is that small ;)

which froyo rom is the best? will the orange rom be wiped when i install a custom one or will i have to remove it to stock first?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,654 ✭✭✭shadowninty

Japanese Jellyfish RLS9 is best IMO

you will lose all data as you need to wipe, I strongly suggest you use JJ RLS9 TPT image as its so easy to do

    Oh yes, its worth it...

The joys and the stress of it all.... worth it.... ;)

Would you like my travel itinerary to belfast?

catch 7.30am train, get into dublin @ 10.30am, hop on to luas across to connolly, enterprise (no kidding, but not NCC-1701D unfortunately... :P) leaves connolly at 11.30, then in Belfast @ 13.30 (in my case, was delayed by 2 hours thanks to some dumb cnut who crashed into the barrier somewhere on the line near belfast), went into some shopping place, grabbed 2x SF, ran back to catch the 16:30 train back to Dublin, missed the 19:30 train back to limerick, waited til 21:00 train, which duly stopped at Limerick Junction... was back in Limerick @ 23:45... Jaze...

Only for the dumb ID10T who crashed into the barrier - it would have been a relaxing day....
was fcekin worth it though... but be psyched up and fit... ;)

has anyone had trouble with 2.2 roms, I've tried at least 3 including Japanese jellyfish and all cause an error with the phone, when i start up without a sim in it's fine, when i start with my vodafone sim I get the error
"The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

I've installed them using ClockworkMod 2.5.0.9 and have wiped cache and done a factory reset

    2.1 seems to work ok

no issue with mine anyway. JJRLS7 working perfect.

other than an sms today going to the wrong person! found a patch on modaco and (think) I flashed it so hopefully that wont happen again. be a disaster to have a phone if you cant rely on text messaging.
