Recommend binoculars for sky viewing

    hi can some one explain binocular powers i.e. 10x50 to me and recommend a power to view night sky and maybe where to buy. Thanks

    For 10x50 the 10 is the magnification and the 50 is the diameter of the lens.

    10x50 are the best for general viewing as they are light enough to be held for long periods.

    If you aren't in a great hurry Lidl sell very good ones once or twice a year for €20 or so.

    15x70 can be quite light too, any bigger and the old arms start to tire out.
    12x60 a nice step up from the lidl 10x50's, which are good for the money.
    Try that irish astronomy club shop, I never used them myself but should be fine for something like that.
