Mk1 Seat Leon (2000 reg) Central Locking Madness

    Hey all,

Just bought a 00 Seat Leon 1.4 Stella as a runaround for a relative and was to deliver it tomorrow. Nicest example of its age out there I reckon. Genuine verifiable low miles, lovely clean tidy body, paint and interior. Everything worked when I viewed it.... it's not exactly jammed with equipment so all seemed well.

As these things happen with cars of its age, it does have some problems and they've began to show up already. The central locking on the car appeared to work - but not remotely - on the two occasions I saw it before parting with my cash. The seller said the keyfob just needed new batteries. I replaced those today - to no avail. Damn.

Unfortunately, this morning the central locking seemed to go completely nuts. First, it only opened the driver's door. Then later it was again able to lock and unlock all doors - without any intervention on my part. Now, the locking is working around the entire car, but will not unlock the boot. I've tried the key in the boot lock itself, but although it makes that 'motorised' sound as I turn the key, the boot remains firmly locked. So using the key in the either the driver or passenger's door won't open it, the remote keyfob won't open it and the key in the boot lock won't open it either... maddening.

Has anyone on here experienced this with a Leon and if so, do you have any advice?

Google may show up something. Its an odd problem.

I know the early Golfs has a recall about oversensitive central locking but that was down to sensors.

Did you reprogram it after the battery went?

Thanks for the help folks... I'll update this if I find the definitive fix.
