Does anybody know if the Microkorg XL can be used as a midi controller for Cubase, Reason, etc.?

It has MIDI in and out, so I'd say yes. Double check before you buy of course. It even has USB but that might just be for the Sound Editor program.

Definitely can work as a MIDI controller,l I have a freind that has one. Works grand for him in Ableton, Reason, etc...so you should be grand.
