Vegas 2009 ( have also been 2008 and 2010) but 2009 was especially great as the other half hit the jackpot on a slot machine in the Excalibur where we were staying. 1 c slot machine and he wins 2500 jammy git!

needless to say we spent that much during last years trip! Ah well looking forward to booking 2011 .... yes we are addicted to the place :D

Masai Mara in Kenya just December gone. Unbelievable experience. Stayed in a luxury tent in a 5 Star hotel called the Fairmont Safari Club. Went on 4 Safaris over 2 days and got to see all the Big 5 and the most spectacular sunset over the vast plains. Everything there was beautiful and would love to go back when the migration is in full swing.
Apart from that Vegas in July 2009 was some experience. Went for UFC 100 and atmosphere was amazing. Would go back there in the morning aswell.

Just wondering how safe did you feel while in Kenya...would love to go back and bring the OH but have heard some dodgy stories over the last few years.

Am I the only one who found Orlando very very tacky. I went two years ago and standing in line behind some 20 stone redneck from Alabama with the sweat bucketing down him to go on some ****e Spiderman ride isn't my idea of a holiday. The places to eat are also just full of Burger Kings and franchises. In my opinion a ****hole..

well you have to consider that most of the areas in orlando outside of downtown (which most tourists don't venture near) didn't exist 35 years ago, its a bunch of themeparks, hotels and stripmalls built in a swamp basically, nothing more nothing less, there is nothing that visually appealing about orlando, miami is a much nicer city to look at

and saying spiderman ride is sh**e is blasphemy, one of the best rides ever :D

Didn't feel unsafe but it is best advised to not go out at night on your own or without a local or guide. Don't wear anything like jewellery or expensive on public transport as it will get robbed. Most resorts are no problem. As soon as they see a muzungo i.e. white person they think money. I had a driver all the time and all places have top level security.
I would bring the OH out there no problem. I'd recommend few days in Nairobi visit Carnivore, go to Masai Mara and then up the Coast to Mombassa on the Indian Ocean.

Beirut - Middle East meets West. Absolutely amazing. In snow covered moutains in the morning and getting a tan at beach in the evening. Beautiful.

Austin, Texas - unlike anywhere else in the USA. Also one of the biggest party cities in the USA (voted by Playboy Magazine as the best nightlife for any university in the USA). You've never lived until you're throwing shapes on a rooftop bar on 4th Street. Combine that with Austin City Limits and South by South West (two of the world's best festivals)... you get the idea.

Chicago - Probably one of America's last "great cities". Big city feel, yet still keeping the friendliness of the mid-west. Amazing the way it sits on Lake Michigan - which is more like a tideless ocean. Also, unlike New York, you can actually walk around/cycle around the city with much ease i.e. it doesn't take hours to cross the city. So much to do. Night life is UN BELIEVABLE as well.

London - amazed someone hasn't mentioned this yet. London is so close, yet is almost a lifetime away from Ireland. From the Tate Modern to China Town/West end. You could spend 7 days and nights doing things and still have more to see. Love that place.

Last time I was there we had a few nights in nairobi and a couple of nights out on the masai mara before Heading to Mombasa for a week...(White Sands hotel was heaven on earth, staff cutting down fresh coconuts and handing them out while you laze around the pool)...and would love to do it again.

I thought it was fairly safe at the time, although I didn't venture out at night in Nairobi, and on Safari it was hotel-van-hotel. But have heard quite a few stories of people being held up or kidnapped while out on safari.

Ko Phi Phi..Unreal, ravaged by the tsunami and the way the place is now,the spirit of the people and the paradise beach.

Cinque Terre, west Italian coast, as the name suggests, its 5 little fishing villages built into the mountainous coast, no cars or roads, just 12km of tracks through the hills & valleys in between each village, which you can do in one day - if you're fit :) seriously, its worth a google! I'd imagine its like the Amalfi Coast was -before it got commercialised

Fraser Island, off the Australian coast - amazing place, an island of pure sand and monster 4x4 style busses bombing around the place up & down the beaches.

Venice - magical, everyone should see it at least once in their lifetime
