Anyway, wow, that seems to be two gun-related removals of her hinted at by the opposition. She should have been under police protection really.

Delicious isn't it? If someone who was in favour of the healthcare bill later died due to a mistake by a doctor who they otherwise wouldn't have seen that would be even better.

Apparently her office was vandalised when she voted in favour of Obama's health reform. And someone rang her and threatened her life not too long ago.

Seriously?

Earlier there had been reports she died as a result of her injuries but a doctor at University Medical Centre confirmed she was alive and was "very optimistic of recovery".
Surgery on the congresswoman has finished and she is in intensive care.
Police have confirmed six people have been killed. Federal Judge John Roll is among the dead along with one child.
There are reports an aide to Ms Gifford has also died.
A further 12 people have been injured.
President Obama confirmed "some" have died in the attack and Ms Giffords is "gravely wounded".
He has called the shooting an "unspeakable tragedy" and a "senseless and terrible act".
The gunman is now in police custody in Arizona and has been named by sources as Jared Laughner.

Latest reports just come in on the news is that Congresswoman Giffords has come through emergency surgery and is expected to survive.

A small child was among the dead in the shooting spree.:(:mad:

It looks like Giffords had a lot of political enemies becaue of her very liberal views. I'd wager that she was an advocate of gun control.

I sincerely hope she makes a full recovery and if anything good comes out of this - I hope it fatally damages the future of Sarah Palin and the hateful tea party Republican nutcases.

Well the point being that shootings happen all the time. I'm not saying that this man was a terrorist. I'm saying that if he was Asian with a copy of the Qur'an in his pocket at the time then I think there'd be no doubt that he'd be labelled as such.

Anyway that's all irrelevant. She's out of surgery now and the surgeon is optimistic.

Probably not, but if he was political motivated, then he should be called a terrorist........

Either way, this is a horrible tragedy, and if this is due to politics, it shows how poisoned things have become in the US.
