Did anyone on here get any quotes for next spring fertiliser, Urea, P and K in particular?

    no

but reckon up about 50 % on last year,

will be going out with slurry as soon as legal, and weather permits, hope to avoid the bag till april at least

Thanks for that Snowman, I wonder are they just ball-hopping the high prices to see what the market will bear?

cant see it going down by much any how.
bought a artic load pre xmas just in case, and if it does go down, will get the benefit of the reduction.
shaping up to be an expensive year for fert and feed.

Journal were quoting 460 for urea and 360 for can with pasture and cut sward at 420 if i remember right. And all due to rise as merchants not ordering forward due to farmers not ordering and balances left on accounts from last year. A bit like 2008 by all accounts:(

sorry lads,a bit off topic - what is the opinion on spreading 0-7-30 on land early in year. Told by reps planner land doesn't need it. Some of the old guys around hear swear by it, they claim its a great base and sets land up for year. Land would be light. its a question of agreeing with science or years of experience.

if you've been told by planner not to shake it (assuming he did soil samples), then definity don't waste your money on doing someing that doesn't need doing.

that was fine years ago when fert was cheap but not now..........

maybe just use muriate of potash instead on silage ground, it is 50% k, has no p.

If it doesnt need it , dont spread it. You have a 'quota' of nitrogen and phosphorous and should spread it where it is needed to maximise your investment in fertiliser. Too much P will get washed out. Too much K can lead to grass tetany

our soil test results always show we dont need to spread 0's , but my dad says that anytime he skipped the o's there was no growth:cool:

i had the same problem until i spread more lime and last year was great for grass with only urea spread, all the p'k was locked into the soil in some way as far as i can see.
