Ah! I've heard of Gay Saunas yes! But had never heard of this specific "boilerhouse".

My personal view: Wouldn't look down on anyone using a place but definately, definately not for me! I have to be able to have a decent conversation with someone before I can have sex with them!

I find the Boilerhouse has almost become a mainstream destination for a significant portion of the gay community (and for plenty of closeted "straight" men too) to visit, particularly at night and it gets mobbed at weekends after the bars/clubs have ended. You can find some absolutely gorgeous (and approachable and up for it ) guys in there that you feel you could never pick up in a bar.

There is nothing too underground or particularly edgy/racy about BH as far as I can see. Plenty of gay bars in most international cities have far more of an underground, shadowy edgy atmosphere with far more racy and in your face hi-jinks and risque things going on which are fine too, of course!!;)

The BH is actually a safe environment to indulge in a bit of fun as long as you take all the necessary precautions (free condoms/lube provided onsite) and most people in there seem friendly and sane and are just like you looking for a bit of no strings action. You will get the odd unwanted weirdo or groper coming on a bit strongly but you'd get that in a club. I would recommend for a first visit that you are not over intoxicated with booze just so that you have your wits about you and familiarise yourself with the routine. I would also recommend you avoid any people who loiter around outside the BH after you've finished who try to make contact with you. Some of the are good looking guys who target gays coming out and then mug them of their wallets etc while pretending to be making a move with you.

I don't totally disagree with you. I just don't think it's as black and white. Of course, you're basing it on your own experience and that's fair enough. But it's subjective.

My main gripe with Irish men is that most of the ones you come across online on dating sites don't know how to hold a conversation. They wouldn't know how to chat if their life depended on it! This is also obviously just based on my own experience.
