Even Enid Blyton's Fanny got misinterpreted, not to mention her Dick.:(

And in the Magic Faraway Tree stories, the names of characters Fanny and Dick have been altered to Frannie and Rick.

What's the reason for being reasonable?

    Is that an unreasonable question?

Fanny is meant to mean rear bum. But when some fannys heard the word from a few tourists they didn't know what it meant and started using it wrongly. Over time people accepted the word to mean a womans front bum, technically called, gee.
It's time to join the rest of the world and start using fanny for its proper meaning again.

    I love the word gee.

It means nothing to me, it is just a word, but the reaction I get when I say it here is hilarious.

What's the difference in a fridge and a fanny?
A fridge doesn't fart when you take the meat out of it!

You need to be careful out there - there's a nasty strain of UltraPox going round ...

Back to the original question for a second: I also associate the term with the book Fanny Hill, which was written over 250 years ago and is now in the public domain. But the author could have taken a term that was already in use.

In my line of work interacting with many foreigners, that name Fanny has popped up a few times. I think its a popular German or Spanish first name, can't remember which :)

It's French - there's millions of them over there!! :D
