I just got a work laptop and I have not been able to connect to the eircom wireless router. There is another laptop in the house that connects fine. It looks like the computer recognises the connection and shows the strenghth and speed but won't allow me to access the internet.......help!!!

What happens when you click "connect" on the laptop?

Sounds like you have put in the password wrong.I know it won't tell you the password is incorrect, it just looks like it it's trying to connect.

Sounds like you are putting in the wrong password.

    If its an eircom router:

    1) Connect the laptop using a network cable.

    2) Open Internet Explorer

    3) In the address bar type 192.168.1.254 and press enter

    4) You should get an eircom page click on Wireless on the left hand side (may be under advanced depending on your router)

    5) Look for the wireless key highlight the key and copy it.

    6) Click on the wireless network connection and paste in the key

Completely agree with hearnys suggestions. If you're still stuck you might try the following.

Temporarily disable windows firewall if it's enabled.
Check internet settings and disable proxy - office computers typically use a proxy server to access internet pages.
