Edit: Just to ask, has anybody attempted the seasonal event race with the Ford Focus? It's the 2nd race, next to the one with Mini Coopers.
I find it easy to come 2nd in it, but can't for the life of me catch up to the leader. He's always about 16 seconds ahead of me.

I also tried this race a few times and couldn't get first for the life of me, as you say, coming second is easy but I couldn't get inside 8-10 seconds of the first place car. I know you can't make any mods to the car which affect the weight or bhp, is there anything else you can do? I bought the height adjustable sports suspension and lowered the car a bit which seemed to help slightly but I didn't splash out on the full transmission to mess with the gear ratios or anything.

    Any ideas??

Edit: Also what car are people using for the very first rally challenge in special events, would the focus ST be any good for this or should I try and get a 4wd?

82 audi quattro but you have to find it in the used car dealer. the lancia is 4wd too and wins it easily.

for intermediate and advanced you can use a wrc car.

The leveling up to 40 on both a/b spec and the challenges will stop many people getting this plat.

a spec is achievable is you just keep at it and keep at it

b spec - not even gonna talk about how frustrating this is going to be - the races are so fricking long and I'm still only around level 6 and with the driver being so terrible..

anything past level 20-25 is going to be torturous and not even having the special events to help along the way...

even having 1000 cars in the garage is going to take a hell of a lot of effort to achieve and lets not even mention getting gold standard

I was thinking there after seeing Kev_ps3's idea of the gt tournament, well ive an idea that'll make things even more exciting. Along with kev's idea what if we ran a 1v1 race, in which you can pick any car, but the losing car must hand over its keys to the winner, as the films put it '' race for slips''. What do you think

How did you get the Vettel car?

Good idea but I think this would make it better. 2 people put up two good cars before the race that both agree to bet, then both agree to race on the same car with the same settings and the winner wins whatever car was bet. Only fair and true test of driving skills imo. Anyone can whore the game and get a f1 car or vettel car and win.

Does anyone want the Mini Cooper S for the Seasonal Event? It's modded so far as the rules will allow. PSN id is liamandagnieszka.

As someone pointed out earlier, how on earth are you supposed to win the Focus race, it's really fecking difficult.

The race with the Mustang is tight but achievable while the NASCAR race around the Nürburgring is fun but very tough. By the end of the first lap I had only passed two other cars. Has anyone won this race- any advice for the rest of us?

Managed to get second in the nascar one, 3 seconds away from first. Took me a few attempts, without sounding big headed I put in a stormer to get second, made only slight mistakes, if I went off I just restarted the race because I knew it was impossible to win it after a big mistake.

i managed to win it on my first attempt but it did take a slight detour accross the grass and a playful nudge on the first place car coming into the last few tight bends :D

if your not up to at least 7th or 8th by the end of lap 1 forget about it. the only place to make up time is in the bends so take it slow into them and stay in 3rd or 4th gear. that way you can accelarate out onto the straights without losing momentum spinning your wheels.

Have to say, i forgot how annoying GT5's system of "You need to buy a new car for this race that you'll probably only ever use in this race! It'll also cost 90% of your monies".

Plus the fact that i can't drive standard cars after playing Forza for the last month means i have to buy new all the time. Woe is me...

EDIT: Do you get a special prize for getting all gold on the Beginner Nurburgring? As in gold for each of the segment and a gold for the entire race.

ive tried that amg challenge and its by no means easy, this game seems to be getting more difficult as i go along. I got gold in the licenses now these, i love a good challenge but dont have the motivation to get those amg golds yet, eventually i will though

No. I didn't actually win it, but I read the prize somewhere, think it's the mercedes that's on on the the screen for the AMG challenge.

if you get gold in all 12 you get a clk gtr race car.

Nothing worse than after buying that car and winning that event, and winning a car that's shíte and you'll never need for any future race.

So if you get gold in all the beginner ones or all the intermediate ones you don't actually get anything, you need to win all of them?? That makes it seem like it's worth the effort even less. Getting gold on a full lap of the nurburgring in any car is not easy...

Or glancing at the Seasonal Events, seeing you need a Toyota Prius, finding one in your garage, spending about 100K on upgrades etc. then not being allowed enter coz the entry requirements were for a 2009 Prius, the one you win somewhere along the line is an 06 model!!!!!! Arrrgh.

Incidentally, the Seasonal Evetns Bonus races are a great way to get cash/XPs, the basic race gives 200K cash and 20000 (or 30000) XPs for a gold, at that price its well worth just buying the required car from new and doing it up to the max. The NASCAR race on Bonus Race 2 series is good, buy the NASCAR for 500,000 but the prize is 1.5m and 100000 XPs.

The restrictions of the seasonal events seem to have been lifted. This is great as i was running a bit low on cash. Great way to build up your Exp. points too :D
