Yes! Im addicted to it now, I was kind of board at the start driving the slow cars but its a really good game. Add a GT wheel and wheel stand pro and you've got the best gaming experience out at the moment imo.

B spec should have an option to tell your driver to "Drive faster and try to win the race", it's the worst part of the game.

I was just going to post that.

I've been playing a lot of it while I'm watching the darts. The overtake button doesn't seem to do anything.

I've been boosting on the ''British lightweights'' Top Gear event. He' came second for me 2/3 times and won it by a mile the other times.
They just seem so reluctant to overtake away from the racing line or break a bit later into a corner.

He has a rocket to drive why doesn't he shadow them through a bend and just accelerate out of it, the F1 McClaren is so fast i'd pass them all out by the second corner.

And then when he does pass all the cars and has a clear road he can win by a massive margin, just shows how much time they waste driving behind other cars.... they never veer away from the racing line and if you play a track with too many corners your in trouble.

It's really annoying because when they do over take them and have a clear road they normally go to win by a mile

I like B-Spec apart from that, but it's awful annoying having to restart events as they go on too long as well.

It does, actually. Go fiddling around with the interface and you'll find it.

Am I the only one who got GT5 to play "We wish you a merry Christmas"? Now I know where six years went...

It doesn't really though, i get what he means.... your driver follows the racing line to a T so unless he enters a massively long straight just a touch behind the car ahead he'll find it hard to pass out the car and that's when you give him a missile

You can press overtake and increase pace all you want but they struggle to overtake opponents, but when they do they end up winning by a massive margin highlighting how much time he wastes prodding along behind someone

I was doing the classic supercars event on the F1 track and he spun on the chicane before the straight, i was 7/8 seconds behind with one lap left, and he made up the 7/8 seconds during the last lap alone but still didn't pass out the car in front

It's down to timing, to be honest. If your car is much faster than his, tell him to overtake on the exit of a corner onto a long straight. If it brakes better, tell him to overtake just before the braking zone of a low-speed corner. Driver fatigue factors into it too, but I haven't figured out that side of things yet.

But thats the thing, they're both slow at cornering and when they make up the ground on a straight they don't commit and get the better line into the next one so if they're alongside they always file back in behind.

I'm up to level 17 now so I've been playing it a while, but the buttons seems to make little difference once they get stuck behind on a track with few straights, once they pass someone though they never get caught again and once they take 1st they really power on.

But when they hit traffic they spend needless time sitting behind cars in front.

It's just a bit annoying you need to nearly boost up every car to unbelievable levels for them to win certain races that I won in a cantor. There's a considerable amount of grinding needed although maybe I shouldn't have been putting much time into my 2nd driver as I got him up to L.8 and my main one at 13/14.... i felt it was going to be needed at some point so started racing him from the start.

Just to reiterate:

I've done 4 of the 5 Seasonal Events from the first section. Once you've raced these, won the money and gained the experience you can't 'profit' from them again. To that end I've bought the cars, modified them as much as the individual race allows and am now finished with them. It doesn't make sense to sell them as you get very little back so whoever wants them can have them.

could i get the honda and the dodge? PSN is johnthegreatest.

i used the gtr v spec to win that event and im assuming you have it down to the minimum allowed weight and as powerful as possible? thats all i did other than putting sport/medium tyres on it and i won it easily enough on the second attempt.

as long as you remember theres 5 laps and stay consistent around 1.28 laptimes you should catch first place with a lap to spare. theres no room at all for mistakes so it might take a few goes.

I just spent over 300,000 on a Lamborghini for the that event, the retarted AI traffic at the first corner saw me crash, then after a restart or two my car wouldn't move.

So i switched it off thinking it was damage and hoping it would go away as long as i didn't quit out then the engine just randomly twice the next attempt.

To repair the car costs 190,000 :mad:, thats ridicules, it doesn't even show you anywhere if it and how bad it's damaged and the price is a joke

Right this is weird, i gave up trying and switched event and car and i still can't move.... wtf is going on?! :eek:

It's just revving, i haven't switched to manual and even so ive tried every button yet i can't move, just randomly happened after crashing my Lamborghini

Right I'm having serious problems with this game all day.

Started in the Lamborghini race, after a bump my car wouldn't leave 2nd gear, then it wouldn't even move, restarted twice to have it stuck revving on the starting grid.

I quit the game and rebooted and the same thing again so i switch car and races thinking i damaged the Lamborghini and i can't move that one either.

I press the PS button for a second and notice the car moves so undo it and the car works fine for a minute then stops moving again so i reboot the game a second time and then all works fine again in both races.

But at numerous other intervals now it's randomly happened with various cars and various points. On one or two occasions it's completely seized up and others i can drive to a certain gear but it won't skip to the next.

Pressing the PS button seems to have some effect in fixing it as often after pressing it i've noticed the car moving a touch and i was able to resume.

It nearly cost me my last race when it went after around 4 laps, i couldnt leave 3rd gear then after a PS pause i was able to get to 4th and just had enough power to hold on.


It also happened on the last race of a cup and i had to quit out and just about held onto joint first since i won all the other races, and that last race where i couldnt leave 4th gear was the 3rd leg of a cup.

It's starting to make the game unplayable now as these races are hard and long and it could cut out at any second.

This didnt happen ONCE before the last patch as i played up to L16 with no problems but mainly played B-Spec since till today since downloading it so i'm starting to think it's that.

Has no-one else experienced this?

I'm level 17 in it so i've been playing it a while, not struggling as such just i could see the point that lad made yest about their reluctance to go by people even with a car thats a rocket. Usually takes 3/4 laps for them to pass out everyone when it should have taken less then 1

I have two Toyota-FT 86 G Sports, 289bhp/7500rpm

You win it twice over A+B Spec and you can't sell it, might come in handy for someone at a low level.

What I like about GT5:
I like the accuracy of how the cars handle.
I like how its about being precise with the car controls and driving lines.
I like the number of cars that are available to chose from.
I like how there are many different types of challenges and races to keep it interesting.
I sorta also like that tuning aspect where you can stick turbos and crap to make your car go faster.

What I don't like:
The AI is absolutely crap.
If you don't have a steering wheel, you'll get completely owned online.
The menu is annoyingly randomly thrown around and the loading times for everything is annoyingly long! Actually this is the thing I hate most about the game. You spend half the time just shifting through menus!
The game focuses too much on accurate car control and precise driving than on actual racing which can get a wee bit tiring after a while.
And a lot of car's they had interior view for in GT5 Prologue, they don't anymore in GT5. Like the lotus Elise. Also don't like the lack of the Lotus Exige and Porsches. And don't like the number of boring and dreary Japanese and American crap boxes they have.

I have a lotus elise I bought from the lotus dealership , interior view etc etc.

Maybe you got a second hand older model one or something.

Silent night was already in the game, a lot of songs (mostly classical) are just set for the slideshow mode, I changed them all to play in the regular menus.
