In fairnes the last SU email before Xmas detailed the start date, I find the SU diary given out to first years very handy as it has all the important dates in it

17th Jan for First Years. A week later than the rest of the college - same as in the first semester.

incorrect. i just checked my college email and recieved 2 emails from different lecturers detailing first year lectures beginning on the tenth.
