Hhhmmmm, might explain why they don't want to have an election given they can't afford to fight one.

The refusal to hold bye elections make more sense if they are so strapped for funding along with their slim majority in government.

One also has to wonder will we see the ban on political donations the Green's want when FF will need every penny they can get to try to pay off this debt.

Right now, a ban on corporate donations which encompassed trade unions would probably damage the opposition more than the government parties.

Businesses are not giving to Fianna Fail, and never gave to the Greens.

Fine Gael would have most to lose and this is probably why it'll be guillotined before the election. It may be one of the things Dempsey was referring to in his "blaze of glory" comment given that it's a personal hobby-horse of his.

Can't; there's a €2m surplus in the admin account which can't be used as it's state funding.

If they need every penny, why the hell are they paying themselves such high salaries & pensions :mad: the sooner they are gone the better.

They are 2 separate accounts.

The election fund is the only fund that can be used for electoral purposes. State cash cannot be entered into the fund, therefore state cash cannot fund elections or referenda.

The NPRF is our "rainy day" fund...and it's bucketing through the ceiling.

Their membership draw earned them approx €1 million last year. FF's church gate collection earned them a few hundred thousand, and I imagine FG's managed about the same. Pretty simple really.

Oh sorry, I mean, big business bought the party to do their bidding in the next election. Was that more along the lines of what you were looking for?

I'm not talking about last year. I'm talking about when Lowry cleared the FG debt. Who helped him, and why have never been been put on the record?

It is? I heard it was bucketing down the road at Anglo & AIB alright. But my correctly-budgeted roof is fine! Because yes, the NPRF was our rainy day fund, not FF's! :mad:

Anyone friendly with a few honest developers who might fix that ?

Not for years anyway.

Over the last few years Fine Gael have been very good at fundraising and the main way is through the Superdraw.

If you're that concerned about it, get your friends in FF to set up a tribunal to look into it......sure one of those will get to the answers pretty quickly.....

How is Ahern these days anyways, still swanning around at our expense while the tribunal inexplicably delays its findings ?

Mud-slinging goes both ways, even more so when the characters that you have questions about are all currently in the FF stable meaning that you haven't a leg to stand on with that argument.

if Lowry is as dodgy as you are implying (and I'd agree that he is) how come FG rejected him and FF accepted him ?

And speaking of things being "put on record", any sign of Ahern's lodgement slips or the minutes of the FF bank meeting that sold us all down the swanee ?

Well... at least FF are consistent, they've been as financially imprudent with their own accounts as they have been with the economy. Send in the bailiffs to seize every last stick of furniture and brown envelope, sell off FF’s HQ and declare the party as bankrupt as it’s policies I say!

people would pay the greens to disband and never come back, that is about the only way they would come about getting donations

As for lowry I do believe the guy did some dodgy sh** and we may never knwo the full truth as in the cases with lawlor, ahern, flynn, fahey as it is very hard to prove anything conclusively, since it is in neither sides (the giver and reciever of bungs) interest to divulge if they corruptly obtained favours for financial aid.

Notice how FG kicked lowry out once his tax avoidance scheme with Dunne was exposed.
They didn't hmmm and haw, claim point blank it was a mistake and give him votes of confidence.

Now compare that with ff who refused to remove lawlor, burke, ahern, bev flynn, o'dea, etc until they were pushed into a corner that it was no longer politically feasible to support them.

Over the last couple of years I believe lowry has found his true bedfellows and both sides appear quiet chuffed with their mutualistic relationship.
