Clicking sound from bars area

    Hi people -

Today I called the bike shop near me to ask them to look at my bike, I am dropping it off tomorrow. I changed the fork from my bowery about a year ago or so, to a new one one carbon fork.

I thought I did a good job, consulted Boards people and knowledgeable cycling geeks at the time, and all looked quite good.

I have been getting clicking or ticking sound soming from the bars, headset or fork. I am not sure. The sound is regular and is much less when I stand and put weight on the bars.

I have dismantled everything a few times, but the noise always comes back.

I am a bit apprehensive as the mechanic I spoke to on the phone told me not to ride the bike if I can... I have been riding it for months with that sound... even trainned on it loads of times.

Is it possible the fork wasnt adapted to the frame? I am too impatient now and a bit scared.

    Any idea?

I had a similar issue a few years ago, a creaking noise from the front on the bike. Variously I thought it was the bars, levers, headset, bb, stem and must have dismantled everything 10 times over the course of a year. Turned out it was a slightly loose spoke creaking as it impinged its paired neighbour where they crossed.

Longer ago a similar noise was caused by the carbon rim of my spinergy wheel where it had detached from the alu braking surface :o

Defo not a spoke I tried with diferent wheels and the sound is still there. It comes form the headset. I even changed the handles bars, replaces bottom braket, pedals, everything!
