I connected my xps m1530 to a Viera TX-P37X20B tv via hdmi.

    http://shop.panasonic.co.uk/TX-P37X20/TX-P37X20B,en_GB,pd.html

It is running Windows 7 64 bit, and has the latest graphics card driver installed.

I can't seem to set the resolution to 1024X720, which is the resolution of the tv. I've gone into the extended menus for the gpu, as well as the default options in the control panel. It only offers 1024X768 or 1200X720.

Is there any way I can change the resolution so that there is no cropping?

Possibly there is something I could do with the tv alternatively? Changing the aspect ratio doesn't do anything anyway.

Nvidia control panel should give the option for custom resolutions. Bring up the Nvidia control panel then go:
Display > Change Resolution > Customize > Create custom resolution

Hm I already did that and it just had a blank list and I couldn't see how to add one. I will have another look.

edit 1: Hm the create custom resolution button is greyed out for some reason :/

edit 2: Turning off 16:9 overscan on the tv results in the image being displayed correctly. Looking at the menu, this feature is solely used for getting rid of the edges of the image. haha. It still would be preferable to have the resolution at the correct setting I think. As it is I think the tv is scaling it automatically.

Google powerstrip program, install it,it makes custom resolution, set pc refresh rate graphics card to 60mhz.SEE tv manual ,pc input settings.
