Software to crop photos?

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of any (free!) software that I can use to crop my images to a particular print size.

I'd like to change the apect ratio of my image by cropping it to a particular ratio, but not resize the image too small.

(for example, if I use paint.net and I resize my canvas to 8"x10", then my photo gets resized to the equivalent pixels, meaning if I save it that way, then my photo is tiny compared to the one that came from the camera).

Currently, what I tend to do, is upload my photos to Photobox and use their software to get an idea of what the crop should look like for an 8x10/7x5, etc. and then adjust by eye in paint.net without resizing.

So pretty much, I'm looking for a program that does what Photobox does.

Cheers to anyone able to help here. Seems a fairly simple thing, but can't find anything that'll do it for me.

Cheers Stcstc. Downloading it now. Hopefully will do what I need it to :)

EDIT: Only have it two minutes and it's driving me up the walls. Dunno where the menu system is and it's importing every photo on my hard drive. Don't need or want any of that (same thing put me off Lightroom, I believe).

Cheers for the suggestion though. The search goes on...

EDIT 2: Just realised Windows Photo Gallery can do exactly what I want, but they only let you pick from some of their own sizes. So I can crop 10"x15", or 9"x13". I'm glad they picked such common print sizes.

Found a program, and tutorial on another website. I'm pleased now, but I'm gonna copy/paste it here, incase anyone else is ever searching for it (or I need to come back to it).

The following tutorial is for a 2"x2" passport
photo but you can use your measurement and
    follow the same steps.

    Creating a Passport Photo:

You need to crop your image to 2x2"
and print it exactly that size....

    The free program, FastStone Image
Viewer can do what you request.

    FastStone Image Viewer
    http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

First you will have to download and
    install the program.

Now, open the program and select
the picture you wish to create the
    passport photo with. The selected
image will show in the bottom left of
    your screen.

Now go to...Edit / Crop Board.

Click the "Define Paper Ratios" button.
(it's just to the right of the Paper Ratio
    drop window)

Click the "Add" button and enter...2 x 2"
    click...OK...

Open the "Paper Ratio" drop window
    and select 2 x 2".

Left click / drag a box around the exact
portion of the image you wish to include
    in your finished passport photo
    . You can
resize by dragging the corner handles
and reposition by dragging the 4-way
arrow. To finish...click the "Crop" button.

    Now...go to...File / Print...

Open the "Size" drop window and choose
    "Normal".

    Click "Print".

IrfanView might be worth checking out...
