My sis,her husband and her three kids were due to arrive from france on the 23rd..the flight was cancelled and she had to stay home..i know my mother as well as the kids had been looking forward to it.

I was supposed to drop a friend to heuston station for a 2pm train on christmas eve but the traffic was so bad it took three hours to travel from fairview(about 3 miles) and she missed the train, fortunatly there were additional trains laid on.

I also saw countless cars stranded on roads and in one case a woman being cut from a crashed car in phibsoboro.

    Pretty poxy really.

I got the flu because of the weather so it doesn't rank as my best Christmas ever, when it could have been so different.

I had to get all of my limbs amputated because of frost bite.

I also forgot to take a couple of bottles of wine out of one of the cars before I went visiting the inlaws yesterday.

It was so cold outside that the corks popped out of the bottles, covering the floor in some rather expensive Dry Riesling.

The car now smells like a wino & it took me 30 minutes to suck the floors dry.

It's not the weather's fault, it was brilliant to have a white christmas.

Not brilliant was the complete mess that was travel after a little bit of bad weather.

Attic pipe burst on Christmas Day but with a resourceful neighbour a disaster was avoided.

I'm assuming you are not talking about using a hoover to suck the floors dry:D

    No. Don't be silly.

Drinking wine from a hoover bag would be disgusting.

I think we need to start getting used to it, with global warming we may be in for winters like this or worse more often than not.

If it looks like being even slightly similar next year i'm gonna hightail it somewhere warm and stay there.

The water stopped on during the annual intoxication and insult gala that is christmas day in our house. Not fun when ehen there are 6 women drinking heavily who require the cistern to be filled when the use the jacks. The cistern being filled involves me going to the neighbours with an old milk pale and filling that up before filling the cistern up.
It's like Mayo in the 90's now

My 16 year old cousin didnt make it home from Spain. She comes ever Christmas to spend it with her dad and us and this is the first year she didn't make it. She was sitting on the plane on Thursday night and they were told to get off that it had been cancelled :(

A friend of my husband's was due to fly to Spain with his wife and two children last weekend, one of the kids got sick so his wife stayed behind with one child and he went on with the other child and all of their presents. Mum and sick kids second flight was cancelled and they all spent christmas apart :(

A Riesling's typical aromas are of flowers, tropical fruits, and mineral stone (such as slate or quartz), although, with time, the wine acquires a petrol note

Why not just siphon the fuel out of the tank and drink it neat? It's cheaper too.

The water stopped on during the annual intoxication and insult gala that is christmas day in our house.

A pipe froze up somewhere along the line in our heating system last Sunday - it was minus 16 overnight & we've had no central heating since.

Had to turn off the water & drain the system before we left for Christmas & the mains froze over in the meantime.

I've been home since about 5pm & have been boiling up pots of snow to throw over the stopcock outside in the hope it might free up the blockage.

    Great fun altogether.

Gonna give up soon, have a few beers & try again in the morning.

No snow here. It was a bit cold though but I had no disruptions travel wise.

It's situations like this that hot whiskeys were invented for. And you've got a wife so...

It means that only people in Dublin let the weather 'ruin' Christmas, because they're nancies.

The missus stayed in her parents... she won't come back until I've got the water going again & the heating back on!

Looks like it'll be a bottle that'll be keeping me warm tonight!

damn cold weather tried to ruin my christmas, but i wouldn't let it! :D

i ended up in bed at 8pm with a chesty cough and an extremely high temperature! :(

but on the plus side turned out to be one of my best Christmases ever! :pac:

not only did i make it all day from in the morning seeing my daughter open her presents, to the evening curling up in bed with my other half as he held a cold cloth to my burning face! a strange but brilliant christmas! :D

oh and the roads were fine!
