    Hey there,

It's a bit of a mystery as to how this happened so I was hoping for an explanation of some sort! Just out of curiousity.

Woke up this morning to only a small bit of residual water in the kitchen cold tap which quickly stopped. I figured this was after a particularly cold night in Dublin 2. Now I tried the usual heating tricks under the sink, and took boiling water to the stopcock outside. It was one of those enclosed plastic ones with the circular lid. When I found water sitting on the (also plastic) valve handle, it was apparent the valve wasn't frozen but I poured the hot water over it anyway.

So all that made no difference and for the rest of the day here there was no water whatsoever. Then a couple of minutes before 3am, I heard a lot of noise come from the attic. It sounded like the tank refilling. So I went downstairs and wasn't the kitchen cold tap working at full throttle...

How did the water come back so suddenly? The temperature here has only briefly risen above zero today and certainly not in the last hour. Our neighbours beside us and across the street have had no water issues all day.

According to Dublin city council, my street is in the Christchurch pump area.

There was most likely an issue with the supply to your house rather than something in your house being a problem
