At least pick a county that's in Ireland

I detest people who don't understand basic geography and you sir are a fine example. Donegal isn't one of the th six counties and even if it was it would still be part of the island of Ireland, if not the republic.

Is Ulster not Northern Ireland, ie the UK?

No ulster is made up of 9 counties, 3 of which are in the republic.

Are there people growing up in this country not knowing that?

Is not Donegal the last outpost of Irishness.
Far away from Dublin and foreigners.

I'd have thought a man so fond of Londonderry would know better ;)

Wait a minute, I thought there was a lot of Orangemen in Donegal. Does that not make it part of NI?

So we're counting Donegal as an actual county now? Standards are slipping here lads

Anecdotally I have been told that the North West Wasteland rival Dublin in teenage mothers and boy racer car crashes...Is this a positive?

The county the North didn't want.

I get the impression the feeling might have been entirely mutual.:D:D

I wanna say obvious troll to so many of these posts but honestly can so many people have the same troll idea at once or are people (in what appears from the posts fantastic other counties that have no car crashes, no Protestants, record employment etc) have no concept of either the geography of Ireland or the fairly important political divide.

Yes Donegal isn't perfect but I’ll take it anyday over Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford or Wicklow.

Them apartments aren’t looking like that bad an idea now eh?

I hate to say it but they're probably not trolling. The level of ignorance down the country about this is shocking - the amount of times I've gone to weddings (basically anywhere south of Cavan) and been asked did I have much trouble changing my sterling...you have to wonder really!

I'd say most of it is just jealousy - after all we're the only county that could in theory secede from this ****ehole republic and successfully make a go of it on our own :P

Careful there. We Donegal people can get really angry when the mood takes us.

I don't often post in AH but when I see a thread so truthful and accurate, I just have to agree with it.

I fully agree that Galway county is a shìt hole, far too many shanty towns like Tuam, Loughrea and Ballinaslow, but I wouldnt consider it worse than Mayo...
    Galway city ftw..! :D

I live in Donegal and I consider myself lucky. We have pretty much everything on the doorstep, quality of life is second to none, the people are friendly, the scenery is spectacular and we can pop in and out to the north to the shops and off license :D (there doesn't seem to be the same bitterness that is evident in certain other parts of the country...see above)

How's that unemployment rate going? Oooooooo

You think Donegal is confusing? Why is a place called Down up the top of the country?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,007 ✭✭✭knird evol

I hear they don't even pay motor tax at all up there.
There's more I could say but I'd only end up being driven over when walking home some night

Donegal has fine, fine wimmen up there! Used to spend a lot of time as a kid up there in Bundoran too, it was like the Las Vegas for arcades before it became an all scummy, dodgy spot.

Though, you could say that about everywhere else :pac:
