    Hi,
Just wondering what are your thoughts on spanx and are they worth the money? I'm a bridesmaid at a wedding in a couple of weeks and need a lil help in the sucking everything in department. I tried a spanx style pair on in M & S, they were the cycling short version that go up just under the bra. Although I found them quite good the back started rolling down a bit. Didn't buy those and decided to buy a pair in Penneys. The lady in Marks said to buy the size that you would wear normally( being a 12). I nearly dislocated numerous body parts trying to get in and out of them so decided to go for 14-16 in Penneys. Fit fine on the butt and thigh area but the top seemed too big and rolled down. I've never worn these type thing before and don't want to waste alot of money on something that may or may not work. That scene from Bridget Jones keeps popping into my head, where she's wearing the yellow dress and the huge knickers had rolled down around her waist.....Help and advice needed asap, thanks in advance.

If you having trouble with just the top not fitting I suggest you buy the shorts and top separate. That way you can get a smaller size for your top half.

Ive tried so many versions and always go back to my original Spanx, they are the best imho. I have the cycling short version that goes all the way to under my bra. Theres 4 loops to hook on the sides, front and back of your bra but i only use the 2 side ones as its a pain the ar*se to unhook them all when going to the bathroom. There is a slit for the eh...very purpose but i dont find it very hygienic. Overall its best and most comfortable control underwear ive found.
Mine look like this except with the loops up the top.Theyre vital tbh to stop them from rolling.

I am a fan of the Trinny and susanne ones, the cycling short type. Go right up to my bra and stay put all night. They are also a big stronger than the spanx so suck all in that bit more. Plus are comfy and give a really smooth line. I also like that they have a extra waist support band that helps slim that area a bit more

My mother got Spanx for the house (five wimmin in total here) and while my sister thought they were wonderful the whole hooking them onto the bra thing didn't work for me. Recently I bought a kind of girdle thing that fitted between the top of the panties and the bottom of the bra which worked wonders because there was boning in it so it didn't roll down. I bought it in an underwear shop but the company is called Flexees I believe. Basically anything with boning in it won't roll down so make that a definite when looking for control underwear.

Debenhams do the Flexees I think, and looking at their website the Trinny & Suzannah ones too. Might be an idea to bring the dress in with you and try on a few types to see what feels best.

Depends on what kind of dress you have but if there's straps there is a version I have that has thin straps so you don't have to worry about them falling down. The one I have is cut out so you wear your normal bra, and the straps just come up around the side. Hard to explain but something like this:

I swear by these by Flexees: http://www.maidenform.co.uk/flexees/styles/all-flexees-shapewear/flexees-ultimate-slimmer-wear-your-own-bra-wyob-torsette-body-briefer-2656

No bra hooking, pain the arse! although the straps are quite thick over the shoulders. they stay where you put them so most dresses can hide the straps quite easily.
