Anyway, i had food poisoning or a bug yesterday, was feeling bad and semi delirious.

I had a dream whereby the virus inside me was holding a gun to my heart and if i tried taking anything to make myself feel better that it would kill me.

That was some messed up sh!t.

Bright yellow Shetland pony stabbed my father, then it's head fell off and there was a Barbie doll's head in it's place.

    There's a sentence I never thought I'd type.

I was on really strong painkillers once and it was horrific. I kept waking up inside another nightmare, my family kept threatening to kill me and other stupid stuff like my little sister picked me up and started walking into the wall but I knew if she walked through the wall I'd go to hell, stupid stuff like that and I just couldn't wake up. Luckily I'd recently seen the movie "waking life" (it's brill btw) and remembered that you can't change light levels in a dream so every time I "woke" I'd try turn a light on or off. I'd know i was still dreaming coz I couldn't effect light so I'd lie down and hold my breath, it did work eventually but it was actually quite traumatic!!! Went back to the doctor the next day and he said that it's a side effect of the meds so he put me on a different type.

When I had the flu as a 6 year old I was being chased by Thomas the Tank Engine, who was intent on killing me.

Woke up in absolute terror and grabbed my torch to make things les dark and scary... it was a Thomas torch so his face was on my wall, 8 feet high. I must have cried for an hour.

I once found myself dreaming I was walking through a desolate desert area in the Middle East. All of a sudden a jeep appeared on the horizon and the closer it got the more I noticed the men inside were all brandishing AK47s and they looked pretty intent on talking to me.

They bundled me in to the jeep and the whole journey I knew something wasn't right, I tried to offer them wealth they had never dreamed of, everything but anything I said was futile. Eventually we arrived at a big cliff face and with little or no warning they all grabbed me and threw me off the side of the cliff! Bastards

I can still vividly remember the shrubs on the ground and bits of gravel I saw before waking up in a pool of sweat.

I have had so many over the years ,but the most frightning for me are the ones when you are falling off a cliff or out a very high window and you can sence yourself falling and screaming and then you wake up as you just about hit the ground,..its good to be alive.

You could have had an hallucination. Hallucinations and nightmares are two different things. Nightmares are like purring kittens compared to hallucinations.

I used to get high temperatures all the time as a kid, which brings on hallucinations. I once thought there was a war taking place on the upstairs landing so I ran downstairs and cowered behind the couch, shouting gibberish at my brother about the battle taking place upstairs :(

I had a dream that loads of Rhino Beetles were coming out from my ears, eyes, mouth, nose, under the skin on my face. I tried pulling one out but he crawled back under my skin and then crawled out from under my eyelid............eurgh, I could feel the skin on my face stretching and the beetles wriggling about in there!

I usually have zombie invasion dreams but they're always awesome.

A horrible dream about broken eggs and embryos when I was pregnant too disturbing go go into (and quite frankly, hard to explain, it was just too weird and disturbing)

My bones are broken and bright chalky white, almost looking like painted drift wood. Someone places them on a silver platter and passes them around a long table in a dark room. My whole family is there and have no faces, but they all loathe me. Everyone passes the silver platter around. Then it's in front of me and set on top of blue velvet and blue sun print paper.

For some reason this scares the crap out of me.

I used to have reoccurring dreams where I'm in some sort of extremely violent war like apocalypse and have to run around rescuing people from natural disasters and brutal military regimes. They didn't bother me in the slightest.

First board post btw... Hello. ;)

I think I'd only watched Terminator for the first time. But yeah I was running away from someone/thing in a clothing store. Had a gun in my hand and thought the best way to deal with this situation would be to shoot myself in the head.

    So I did.

Except I lived, and could feel the bullet in there. I also could reach up and put my finger in the hole it left.

Then something happened, then I woke up.

I had a dream one night i was walking down a street looking in the windows of shops. Then I brushed my teeth in my dream.

    The most pointless dream ever.

I was tied to a chair listening to The Script on repeat for eternity.

    My therapist loves me though.

Was being pulled under the bed along the wall by the Virgin Mary while Superman was looking on from the door...

Was about 4 - 6 at the time and it's the only dream / nightmare I've any recollection of.

Was about 13 and had just read Omen 3. Being chased by a huge Rottweiler, which was in fact the devil. Just as I could feel it's hot breath on my neck I woke up drenched in sweat. Was lying there for ages freaked out.

Then the Devil loomed up from the floor, grabbed me by the ankles and dragged me out of bed.......then I woke up!

Didn't sleep right for weeks after.

hallucinations indeed, i had one bout when i was about 12! i was pushing the tips of the nails on my index fingers against each other. in real life this takes some precision and you can only exert a certain amount of pressure before one or other nail slips. in my hallucination, when i exerted too much pressure my nails would crack, and worlds were exploding...

all brought on by a bag of peanut m&m's! mmmmm......

I used to have a recurring dream when I was about 9 or 10 where I'd be watching Tomorrow's World and they'd be doing a report from a petrol station forecourt. Then Jesus, nailed to the cross would pull into the forecourt and stop beside a pump. The reporter would go up and start interviewing Jesus, and he'd stop, look straight at the camera and start screaming at the top of his lungs. Used to scare the **** out of me.

I have this recurring one where some evil force is trying to posses me, it's a very strange one cos it's an actual physical feeling more than a dream, like pressure building up inside my head, more and more as i try to resist, eventually i wake up usually covered in sweat and the residual feeling of weirdness can sometimes last for days!
Thankfully it doesn't happen very often, maybe 10 times in total over the past 10 or 12 years

I dream of vampires regularly, but i wouldn't class them as nightmares cos i enjoy those ones!

Another one I remember which was extremely wierd considering I was so young (About 3-4 years old because I still remember the crib)

Anyways, kept having a recurring dream that a rotted head of my sister would just peak out from under the quilt. Everytime I touched it the head would make this horrific scream...........never moving an inch.

I'd then crawl out of my crib, go downstairs where I'd see the light from the kitchen under door, I'd assume that's where Mammy & Daddy were as I could hear voices. As I got closer the light would just turn off and then utter silence and darkness in the house. I'd try and go back upstairs but I'd turn incredibly slow like my joints were made of jam or something and I wouldn't be able to move.

Plus when I was in Junior Infants I used to have dreams that the creepy Virgin Mary statue would come to life as a ghoul and kill everyone in the school. It just looked like a floating statue zipping about the place but, good grief, I'll never forget the screams it made. :(

Hmm, might explain how I turned out so normal :pac:

I was driving a red sports car being chased through a woods by T Rex.

When I was younger I also had a recurring dream of an axe-wielding maniac crashing through my bedroom door to kill me. I kept a hurley behind my bed for a while....

Ive had seriously mental dreams that still make me shudder when i think of them. One involved doing... eh...not very appropriate things to a family member (that dream made me feel physically sick when i woke up).

There was another one where i knew i was in a dream but couldnt wake myself up. There was this black ghostly figure like the thing in harry potter and when i eventually woke up i was gasping and i remember the ghoul screaming at me like a banshee or something and disappearing. I swear i felt like the life was being sucked out of me. Awful awful stuff. I used to regularly dream of my teeth falling out, but not normal amounts, like handfuls of teeth or id poke one and itd be hanging on by a thread.

I generally don't seem to remember the content of my dreams/nightmares. Once as a kid I woke up with a jolt, clearly after dreaming something horrific, and a Matrix poster I had on my wall fell down and landed on top of me. Cue me thrashing and shouting thinking I'm being attacked by Neo.

    Bastard poster.

As a kid, whenever I was sick, my parents used give me Calpol. For some reason it used drive me insane. I remember one night I woke up, sat on the stairs and I thought I could see myself through the door from the hallway into the kitchen making fireworks. Calpol also used have me wake up in the middle of the night thinking my hands were shrinking so I had to wash them to make them big again

Had a messed up dream last night actually. for some reason I got shot in the head, I can remember the pain quite well and then just black, dream went on for seemed like hours of me just there in darkness thinking. Is this what it all comes down to. woke up few hours later around 5 this morning, cant get back to sleep and still thinking about it. Quite weird.

I remember one from when I was about 10 ever so vividly.

In the nightmare, I was walking along my road and it suddenly turned into a cemetry, somehow I'd suddenly realised someone had been killed on that road.

I ran home and went inside. A knock came at the door; it was a man selling bikes - he had a tattoo of a celtic cross on his arm. He shouted through the letter box what he was selling and, presumably wanting a bike, I opened the door.
He pushed me into the front room and I remember a line I've never forgotten. He took out a knife and said "I use the little one for little boys" it sounds ridiculous now, but I woke up screaming. Horrible
