 Can't believe what just happened to me this evening. Have the game around three weeks now and had a rake of cars, licences and A Spec events completed. Then tonight i completed the polopony cup on pro level as the champion and when i exit the game it just freezes on the "saving data" screen. I left it for around 10 minutes and no joy. So i turned the Playstation off mad as hell that i'll have to compete in the whole event again when it reboots and i could'nt believe my eyes when all the data had been lost and the game has to be started from scratch again.:mad: Say's on the saved memory facility "corrupted file".
So i do a search google and lord and behold it's a common problem with the game. You'd think in this day and age Sony would be able to work with polyphony to create a game that would'nt crash like this. I'm disgusted.

You can't. That's another problem with the game.

As above it can't be done according to GT5 forums. Totally unbelieveable situation.

I hate it when they dont allow you to backup your saves. Capcom are bastards for this too.

I definitely wouldn't say no to some more premium cars!

Why can't you back up your save files, can you not just copy them to a memory stick or whatever??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,920 ✭✭✭AnCapaillMor

they'e locked\copyrighted, there's a few games that do this, ninja gaiden, deomons souls. won't even work if you do a full ps3 backup and restore.

Ya, it makes no sense. I was going to my brothers for the weekend so was going o bring GT5 and save the file on memory stick and then i found out it was copyrighted, what a f**king joke. And annoyingly I bought GT5 prologue while waiting for GT5 and that let me copy saves no problem.

I think you can transfer over all of your data onto a new HDD but it wipes the old one. A quick google should explain.

    http://kotaku.com/5713599/a-souped-up-ps3-can-cut-your-gran-turismo-5-load-times-in-half
Improve your Gran Turismo 5 loading times—if not your lap times—by ripping out that stock hard drive in your PlayStation 3 and swapping in a solid state drive. You could cut your wait to race in half.

Gran Turismo 5 owners looking to optimize the PlayStation 3 game by using SSD storage instead of the standard 2.5" hard drives are finding that tracks that normally take 50 seconds or more to load take about half that with a new drive. The hefty initial install of GT5, which can run upwards of 40 minutes, can be done in about 25 minutes when using solid state storage.

Worth the extra cash? It all depends on your patience versus your personal wealth, but if you're dropping the money on a dedicated Gran Turismo 5 steering wheel, what's another couple hundred on a new drive?

Eurogamer has some of the numbers, collected from the Beyond3D and GTPlanet forums, which you can see at the Digital Foundry site.

Anyone out there in Kotaku-land already enjoying the read-write speeds of an SSD on their PS3? If so, how are you liking it?

How is it for the Xbox? It looks pretty good. Is it getting the same amount of problems it has on the PS3? I'm also getting this for Christmas, so what car do you recommend me to buy first?

Been two weeks since I played it, should be able to play it over the holidays.

The Dodge Viper SRT is an amazing car with good power and handling for 100k, thought it would be a stereotypical muscle car that would have terrible handling. Modified it to the max but might reduce the power since there's too much.

Anyone get the hang of drifting? tried it a few times but I'm terrible!

The 3 free cars I wouldn't be too excited about.........but this bit is promising.
The oft-delayed but ultimately rather brilliant Gran Turismo 5 finally left the garage last month. Earlier today, the game's creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed he was planning to add more premium cars to the current roster.

    Hi.

Does anyone know what the benefit is of having more than 1 driver for this?

I just levelled and I can now have 3 drivers, what is this for?

    Thanks.

    Anybody???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭tonydude

its for the b-spec endurance races, the driver will get tired so will need to be changed during a pit stop.

Anyone got a Toyota Toyota 7 Race Car ‘70 for a trade with a 2J Race Car '70

Some feeling winning a race on the line by 4 hundredths of a second :D

The R8 is the best car I've had so far in it for being fun to drive and powersliding.

Anybody else find the positioning of the track map on the rally special events annoying? It seems to block the view of the track immediately in front of the car.
