I don't know anything about Blackberrys but my mate wants to tether his, so he can get online on his mac. He's on Vodafone and I'd appreciate if some one could give me some advice on how it's done as he's doing my head in! Ha ha. Thanks in advance.

The simplest way is probably to use Desktop Manager...make sure you have the latest version from http://uk.blackberry.com/services/desktop/.

Start Desktop Manager (DM) on your Mac, connect the Blackberry via the USB cable and on the bottom left of the DM screen you will see "Mobile Internet"

Click the icon and you will be taken through the steps to connect. A small word of warning here if your friend is on BIS, tethering is not part of the BIS plan and unless you have an addon, then you will pay per kb as the APN is through hs.vodafone.ie or isp.vodafone.ie or office.vodafone.ie (not sure which)

I also use PdaNet from http://junefabrics.com as they have a Bluetooth option rather than having to use the cable.

with vodafone, you can tether at no extra cost. I use that with a vodafone blackberry, and have yet to be charged for it. with desktop manager you can choose what APN you use when tethering.

i have used live.vodafone.com over the last while and was never charged.

The only issue I have with tethering my Berry is that I can't tether via bluetooth, USB cable is the only working way. No solution was found as of yet.

Yes. I'm with three on classic flex max with BIS and I do it no problem.
