Probably a few workers on wpp schemes working for hp. Thought they'd give themselves a christmans bonus seeing as welfare aren't.

Maybe they should reinstall their drivers.

Have they tried updating their BIOS?

Unplug the aul' server (Betsy) out of the wall, wait 5 seconds and plug 'er back in.

In the meantime they should have Pacman installed on the ATM's while everyone waits for them to work again :pac:

They did but they transferred their own technical staff over to HP as well

what staff has been outsourced? The problem could be something the new bhoys did. I don't know what HP do for BOI..they said it was an OS issue, I would guess a dodgy application got deployed to machines and broke a critical app or something...

    http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/bank-of-ireland-customers-will-have-to-pay-overdrawn-money-back-484872.html
There were long queues at ATMs in some places yesterday, following reports that people were being given more money than they have in their accounts.

However, the bank says customers will be liable for any money wrongly withdrawn.

Yesterday, many people reported problems accessing their funds because of a fault with the computer system.

    no free lunch then

They look after their whole IT infrastructure , and BOI concentrate on the banking end of things.HP are supposed to be experts in this field

Apparently, those who withdrew money will have to pay interest on it, according to a very belligerent BOI spokesman on the radio. A Consumer Rights spokesman has said that people shouldn't pay interest for something that was BOI's fault.

It's like watching Dark Lord Sauron and Gandalf battle it out!

Customers should have had a rough idea how much money they had / needed when going to an ATM. It didn't force people to take out a maximum withdrawal at the time.

They should pay any over charge fees due.

Also, taking large amounts out of several machines one after the other is a giveaway that something dodgy is afoot.

    Oh Good God of almighty.

Don't they get it. You wouldn't have been able to be overdrawn if the system was working properly.
