Second this thread is a not here for discussion of mod decisions taken in other threads, anybody who attempts to use this thread to do so will find their posts may be deleted or they will earn themselves a ban/infraction.

With respect (and I mean that sincerely by the way - I'm not someone who uses those two words as a means to say 'F you' in a nice way), to follow your suggestion means that the forum user (i.e. me, Shiva, Lefty or whoever) shouts into the dark - into mod land. Now, that's not to say that I don't respect the hard work that mods do - and the fact that you give of your own time and effort for free - but it automatically puts the person taking the point to Mod Land at a disadvantage.

It also has the disadvantage to the community here of lacking transparency. It takes the issue away from the easy reference point of the area where the issue came about in the first place.

The Master (err, normally I would use a users full name, but somehow the use of the word 'The' first just seems wrong, and 'Master' is entirely inappropriate for a multitude of reasons), I don't know you personally - but Andy knows who I am and has met me - and I hope he can let you know that I am a genuine individual who does not take sides. I come to this as someone without baggage and I am raising this here to try to start a general conversation about this forum and the perceived drop off in posting, interaction and general fun here in the last six months. I don't think that taking this up in the manner suggested would be in the best interests of the airsoft forum.

I hope that you will take this post in the manner that it is intended - which is to highlight a genuine concern (and also to post it publicly to initiate a fair discussion).

    So business as usual then?

You can't honestly say the standard of moderation is the same as it was in the past..it's dire.

What's with the whip cracking over the past while as regards moderation? Is that a decision at your level or from the higher ups on boards who don't like what they see here?

I'm sorry Rob, I genuinely dont mean to piss you off, but thats not going to happen.

I'm with Kevin, Ger, Blayne, Gareth, Mark and everyone else who has an issue with this - I'm not going to shut up about this, and if it results in me being banned, then so be it.

The moderation in here is ridiculously inept, and it needs to be addressed. When I last ranted about this, I decided that if I got banned, I'd simply raise a middle digit to Boards and be on my merry way to Facebook, where my Eirsoft page there generates somewhere in the region of 300 times more traffic to my website, and is free. And yes, that figure is correct, and yes, I DO analyse stuff like that. I dont stick around here because Boards is a wonderful source of advertising - its not, by any stretch of the imagination.

But then I decided I enjoyed how this forum used to be, and that if I did get banned, I'd simply pursue this matter through other channels. But I'm not letting it go - I will discuss it publicly, and encourage other users to do so, and the threat of a ban holds absolutely no fear for me.

I actually hate your sig, just to let you know, and I hate everyone else o nthe forum who uses it, **** buzz your man had his bike nicked, but its ****ing seriously annoying as that sig just attracts focus from posts and the page.

Plus I read that thread and its a joke, it basically after a few pages just branded every foreigner a thief, and without knowing who this guy actually is, he is seemingly a no good Romanian thieving ****. According to that thread.

    Bit of a joke ; /

I dont know if you cycle or not but anyone who does cycle regularly in the city centre will know just how much a problem bike theft is. Its not even just the centre too, these scum have taken WHOLE RACKS of bikes in the back of a van from UCD before.

Its a rare case that anyone gets good CCTV footage of bike theft and Raam took the opportunity to try and help his missus get her property back. Yes the thread turned into a farce after a few pages, but that doesnt make the original goal any less valid.

If the sig annoys you, here you go, turn off sigs:

We're losing some of the most experienced users on this forum, the absolute goldmine of information is dwindling. Masada - he's just gone from boards, yes, he did piss some people off (we all know who) and broke rules and stuff or whatever, whether you like it or not, that man knows his stuff, like Dex, Doc, Rogue, Moggy... Hmmm all members or indeed former members of the Hawks, a conspiracy I say!!

I want to make it perfectly clear. I was never a Hawk. They unsuccessfully tried to recruit me numerous times (given I worked with two and for one of them, that was tough to turn down). While they are a fantastic team and everyone of them is a yardstick of respect and honour by which players should be held, I had my reasons for not joining. Chief among which was my pure lack of time to go skirmishing over the past year, and their ridiculous and tasteless insistance on using Multicam.
I know I wear ACU, which basically blends into nothing (except couches and, ironically, snow), but I draw the line at Multicam.

Just so I'm clear, we don't associate with chairsofters...

    What up...G

I feel a big rant inbound but in fairness, I just don't want too. Looking at it from the outside, there is literally once or twice a week a bit of an uproar about moderation. That is a pretty bad sign.

The uproar isn't against the individuals but the methods of moderation they use and how heavy handed this place is.

This isn't the buzz of 2008, the place isnt packed with isara talk, ban talk and the likes. We don't have debates fueling with sides and people going for the neck.

We genuinely have **** all spice left, therefore, there is nothing left to moderate. I genuinely feel its a case that mods are intervening when posts arn't even been reported, and even ones that are I have to question are they being reviewed or simply acted upon without any investagation.

It very much to me feels that the moderation is dark ages, non transperent and very much "out" of touch with the community. Countless times we have made it clear on this board that the community is small, and most people know each other. Banter and having a laugh is simply, going, to happen.

Stopping it simply puts an uproar into everyone.

That team thread was a perfect example. Granted it was mainly me I won't deny it, but I felt it a prime opportunity to have a sly dig at all the snide comments myself and the team I'm with have received through the years, the rumours that have gone from thin to thick, and the recent events that have disturbed me to no end. ( That I do not wish to bring up here, but perhaps wait till the IAA AGM)

Lads the forums on its knees and has been for some time, there is literally 0% useful stuff going on. The only thing that might salvage its life is having a bit of a laugh.

You just arn't doing yourselves any favours, and granted if it is a case of you acting on reported posts then fine, but IT IS CLEARLY someone who either dislikes me/other posters for some reason, cause there is genuienly no case what so ever for the carry on going around here.

Also Andy, I'd like to point out your link to Dispute Resolution is very condescending and not appreciated. It doesn't take a genius to see those forums are a ****ing joke, and that mostly any Airsoft thread that was made there, was weighed in heavily by admins and moderators of other forums who werent even involed.

It is very much a possy parade to get loads of moderators behind your back who enjoy a spiffing game of quote tennis and nothing gets resolved until we are all sick and tired of posting, so please don't insult my intelligence or others by posting that link, its a ****ing joke.

There has been UMPTEEN chances for the mod team to regain some credit and faith but its blown up the swanny every time.

And true, Moderators are not obliged to post reasons behind anything they do or discuss **** in thread. But then again very few forums are UP IN ARMS against the moderation a forum receives like this one.

And yes, you are not obliged to explain your action. However this is called, ****stick moderation. Responding to your forum users, explaining actions that seem trivial and displaying transparency is what makes a good moderator and an enjoyable forum.

Actually I think boards has gotten hilarious just because of the mod complaints and the hilarious comebacks. More of this sort of thing tbh.

Personally as the last reciever of an infraction on this thread, I believe I am currently winning in the "Piss the mods off just enough to not ban you by calling them out on their egregious bull****" game.

    Your move, cuntlogs.

Just so y'all know the whole moderation issue and what to do about it is being discussed in the mod forum right now.

Expect some news on it soon.

In the meantime, please don't bring the subject up here any more, you'll get a chance to have your say :).

Looks like the whole place nearly imploded in my 10 days away.

In the meantime, I came across this video on another site.

I dosed the water in Dublin with quite a large dose of Lithium before I came back. There will be no uprisings in the future.

I'll be working in Limerick for the forseeable future... *sigh*

What we need is a return to normality.

Doc, we need to find a place to sit for several hours, talking shït while watching YouTube and waiting for Tadhg to arrive so we can order pizza, all the while dispensing our worldly knowledge of, well, everything to anyone who asks us a question, then argue over whether a cowboy loadout is gay or really gay and watch the Discovery Channel ad again.

    It's time we saved airsoft!

The Head shop in Limerick got fined for selling Crossbow pistols. This was the same place that was selling the overpriced el-cheapo airsoft crap, and that later started painting them 2-tone.

Have not been in there in a while so cant comment on their current prices. (Dont know if they are currently still selling them or not either)

Was in there when they first started selling Airsoft gear
which was ages ago (more than a year or two maybe)it was mainly overpriced cheap crap.
Later on they had less and less of it, and at one stage they started painting the guns in bright orange and pink and two tone for a while.

There is another shop on William street a few doors down from the leather shop (where browsers used to be) thats starting to sell the cheap crap too
