Difference between Desire & Desire HD

So I am looking to buy a present for a friend of mine who has a basic HTC Desire. My problem is that a lot of the accessories I see online are for the Desire HD. Being completely clueless about smartphones is there much of a physical difference between the two? Like if I was to buy a Phone Holder or Pouch for the HD would…

On a serious note the HD is a bit bigger so won't fit cases or docks. Charger is the same though
