There were questions been raised over the possibility of Cyfra+ pairing cards with receivers on other satellite forums this week. I really hope this does not come to pass as I am a subscriber to and I know many other boards members are also subscribers and if cards had to be paired to specific crapppy boxes. The appeal of Cyfra would be much less.

    "CYFRA + denies pairing cards

With the introduction of the new HD decoder Sagemcom by CYFRA + satellite platform, appeared on the web about pairing cards with decoders used. CYFRA + indicates that the pairing has not introduced cards with decoders Sagemcom HD. It should be noted, however, that in order for the card has been activated in collaboration with the HD decoder Sagemcom, it must have other rights, which takes a little longer than other types of decoders work with CYFRA + cards.

Activated with decoder cards Sagemcom HD work in all other receivers, and vice versa - the cards that have received permissions to any other receiver (for today it's all the cards that were used), will be active in Sagemcom HD decoder.

Activation of the decoder card Sagemcom HD is unusual because it takes about 40 minutes and should be made to the channels with the frequency 10.796 GHz, pol. V, SR 27500, FEC: 5 / 6; DVB-S/QPSK)."

Would a Cyfra branded CAM overcome this?

Crap sub & a crap receiver, I'd say they made an absolute killing out of them.

From someone who has owned in excess of 100 receivers over the years I'd have to strongly disagree with you.

You couldn't actually own one, if that is your opinion?

Leaving aside it's network capabilities, it is as solid as they come for a hd receiver around the 200 euro mark.

    I have the Spiderbox 5000sd...

And the support for it is pretty ****e...

Really, they release a patch and upgrade roughly once a month, I don't know what your used to but in my experience that is unparalleled support???

Come on like grand for the hd boxes but the sd box support isn't good...

They keep saying CCAM is in working order with all forms but its not..

CCAM 2.1.1 is the only compatitable one..

The patches they have produce have been pretty pointless, haven't patched my reciever since august...

Agree totally Boggles, You can think what you like about Darkman and his gift but the Spiderbox HD is a good receiver for the price. Aside from the picture quality, which is great, it has many other excellent features.

CCAM is hit and miss at the best of times, too many dependent variables.

Not going to discuss it but your dealing in the shady wild west at the best of times with any sort of server sharing.

Really even the latest one?

I've owned some boxes where I have had to wait 4-5 years for some form of firmware update.

The Spiderbox is an absolute quality receiver, have completely turned my back on my beloved collection of TMs since I took ownership of two over a year ago.

Ya CCAM is pretty solid on the Dreamboxs though..

Oh i love the box adn wouldn't get rid of it for the world!

The gift and PVR function is what i really like it for!

    Pretty user friendly too!

Just think it can be improved in places but for the money you can't go wrong!

3pms not working again on Tring, looks a slightly different issue than last week, this time its just saying access denied or no subscription, looks like the Tring Plus update for the 3pms was'nt activated, its doomed now.

some people on alsat forum have it working but most havent

try taking the card out, reboot and put the card back in

I looked at the Alsat forum, from what I can make out theres a lot of bullsh*t being bandied about there, there are only 2 or 3 saying they have the sports channels, and they're either senior members or Admins.
There must be at least 30 people who posted to ay their cards are'nt working.
I have 2 Tring Cards here at the minute, neither have the sports channels working and I know 4 other mates who have the cards also, theirs are'nt working either. I done all the rescans, reboot, remove card etc and it did'nt make one bit of difference

No doubt they are deleting plenty of comments and threads!!

Ya i'm looking on other forums for info there now..

Starting to think they were a bad buy with the pix quality and now this again...

Ok just found this on another forum...

I have no idea whether its truth or lies so dont hold me responsible if it is not true!

"TELECOM will not send the upload any more .
Sky have threatened BT with court action for uploading the signal .
It will be interesting foz to see what your supplier says , or better still offer you a refund .
The information I got was that there are 3000 cards issued in the UK and ALL are off ."

Kinda hard to believe its possible to do...

    Now heres a strange one!!

I have 2 cards here, one starts with 020 0201 and it will not work, full stop. Now after a lot of switching about and rescanning etc my other card is working! it starts with 020 0203.

I bought the one that works off an Irish based ebay seller and the the one thats not working was bought off satfoolsdeals.co.uk which has close to links to Alsat if memory serves me right.
    Its a mess!!!

    do ye see this now

    http://alsat.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=336733
Warning: Commercial use of Tring Card.

Tring cards are only sold by Alsat for domestic use in the UK. Unfortuneatley, some of these cards are now being used for public viewing by Pubs etc. The card is not intended for UK commercial use.

To combat this situation - so Tring do not lose all ther games - a last minute encryption of 3pm's has been put in place. This makes it inconvenient for pubs who are waiting to show the game to paying customers. Unfortuneately, to combat the illegal public viewings, this also affects the domestic users who are not using the card as a business tool.

    For a last minute update:

Your card needs to be in a conax cam while on Tring Sports News - at the beginning of the game to receive the update, so you may miss a few minutes of the game. That is better than having ALL the Tring EPL games cancelled because a few pubs are using a domestic card in the UK.

Tring are trying to prevent your cards being rendered useless by the FA for all other EPL games, due to misuse by UK businesses.

Alsat do not authorise the use of any card for commercial use.

its the start of losing the 3pm kick offs imo

Thats some scam if you ask me! How many people with tring plus won't see that and how many people will miss the update!!

    Some disaster!

    Money ...
Nova is nearly 1000 euro a year for an official viewing card ,its huge money and certainly not worth it as they only show 2 3pm matches on a Saturday.
Please dont say that you can watch it on the insectbox for free or similar device as that is illegal.
