No, it's definately lightning, I've been hearing faint thunder from southeast Dublin for half an hour by this stage. There's another thread on this somewhere. I saw one two days ago and didn't know what it was and got caught in the almightiest one an hour ago and then another ten minutes earlier. The sound is extremely faint though, but it's getting louder- I'd reckon it's too far away for the sound to reach us audibly. Over the sea maybe. In the other thread a guy in Dunboyne said he saw one. Jesus.

    Or maybe it's North Korea.

Been looking at irishweatheronline.com and the lightning strikes didn't match up earlier, it could well be wrong though...

We're going back to the stone age anyway, may aswell be shelled back to it. It's a more respectable reason.

This may come as a shock, but it's simple some lightning.

also spotted flashes while in Dunboyne. I was looking up at what looked like those Chinese lantern things. seen em round last few days. is it Chinese new year?

    Edit.
if its lightening how come I didn't hear thunder? I was outdoors walking the dog and the area was quiet so I should have heard something? should we ask in ct?

Saw two mad flashes just after eleven near me folks house between Mullingar and Clonard driving in the middle of the sticks by myself. Stopped the car, but couldn't hear any thunder. Saw a couple more coming up the M4 and another massive one just out near Beaumount about 40 mins ago.

What are the bets that the government will wheel out Gerald Fleming and his cronies at the Met Office to pump the public full of disinformation tomorrow? Lightning me arse, it's space aliens!
