    Hi,
I bought a used car with no NCT. When I went to book the NCT I found out that it had already failed the NCT. When I tried to book another test it said

"Your Vehicle is due for Visual Re-Test, Booking is not required."

I dont know whats wrong with it (but if its only a visual test it cant be much??)
If I bring it in to the visual re-test to find out why it failed will I be charged to do the next visual re-test after I have it fixed?

visual retest is free and has to be done in 1 day iirc
ya will prob have to pay for a full test again, best thing to do is ring them up about it

I'd contact the seller to see if they can tell you what it failed on first time around. If that's not possible I would check the obvious fail items such as bulbs, cracked light lenses, tyres, sharp edges, cracked windscreen etc, most likely one of these that failed and will only require a visual confirmation to confirm it's repaired.

Don't let it go beyond the time limit of you will need a full retest.

Re-test has to be booked within 21 days of the original test and completed within 30 days (of the original test), otherwise you're looking at a completely new test.

Visual check which doesn't involve a ramp is free.
