doesnt that mean that there is a lot of DOWNHILL every mile too? :D

Congrats on 2nd place - great stuff.

    Careful now!!

Don't give him too much credit or he'll think you are coming onto him :D

Good result all the same. Hard to beat a bit of teeth grinding

Congrats on 2nd place - great stuff.
    The downhill was for breathing:D
Actually near the end the downhill was hurting more in my legs.
I know other people say downhills balance out uphills but not 26 times:D

    Tuesday
    Just 5km running
30 mins on the bike then. Legs are fine, less hassle from them then after the dcm. Does anyone else find running slower marathons effects your legs more?

    10 Miles easy.
    8.32
    8.19
    8.00
    8.02
    7.49
    8.03
    7.58
    7.53
    7.48
    7.23
    1h19m58s
Ive noticed that the more marathons i do at around ~3.25 the lower my comfortable pace is getting. Its about 8 min miles at the moment. Legs are perfect.

Up and down day. Took myself and ken 4 hours to get down to kinnity.
Started the marathon 2 hours late.
Flat course my bollox by the way.
Had to run the second lap on my tod and garmin was out of power.
No water stations in the second lap so i had a small positive split.
    3.27/28
Happy with that and finished in good nick.
Had another 5 mins in me.

10km on a treadmill down the gym. Legs in great nick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,496 ✭✭✭Oisin11178

    Monday-work/rest
    Tuesday- 2km w/u, 5 x 1km at 3.40 a km with 2 mins at 12kph between reps, 2.5km w/d
13km overall. This was done in the gym at a 1% incline and it was about a million degrees.

Took rest days fri and Sat because i was meant to be running the Luton marathon sunday. It was called off so no running sunday.

My usual running route is still treacherous so down to the gym again today.
Eat just before going down the gym, big mistake.
    2km w/u, alrealy feeling ****.
5km in 19.58, never felt so bad in all my life, lucky to get to 5km.
12km in one hour, hard. Id love to know what my heart rate was.
    Overall 19km in 1h31m.

Attempted an outdoor run yesterday. Went on my snot after about 100 yards, gave up after that.

    Today
    1 mile w/u slow
4 miles on treadmill. 1% incline @ 6.20 a mile. They are over compensating for the cold weather with the heating on full.
    60 mins on the crosstrainer.

I take it that those are your sixmilebridge splits there Oisin? Happy with those i'm sure. How much are you looking to shave off for Barca?

You're nuts doing a marathon in training :pac: I still think you are well capable of sub 3 in barca if you get the traiing right (i.e. follow a proper training program and stop running a marathon every week :p).

Anyway, just popped in to say I'll be doing a longish run on sunday as well as saturday. I can meet you in the park sunday too. I plan to do about 12ish miles. Don't want to go up too early though in case I'm boozing on saturday :pac:

Im training for a 50k in a few weeks. I thought about it and to get sub 3 i reckon id have to devote 6 months to it and at the moment id rather do what im doing now. Im looking to do about 7.55 average for the 50km.
Let me know what time on sunday and ill run to the park.Planning on 20ish.

Only put in splits yerterday as i was tired. Object of the session was to start slower and finish strong. Went better than i expected. Could have dropped the last mile under 7 mins only for a patch of ice at fairview park. No water or gels again.
