Yeah of course. Im going to keep doing the speed work and set a goal just before barcelona. I havnt got the physic to go sub 3. Was looking around the pub last monday and all the guys that ran sub 3 were skinny as fcuk. Ill keep chipping away and see where it gets me.

haha you obviously havent seen those wiry ultra lads.

Whatever floats your boat buddy - but I wouldnt let the physique thing bother you, im 5-10 kg lighter than most of the faster lads on here it seems and I havent gone sub 3 (yet).

enjoy anyway! Offer for an interval sessino remains open. :)

16.1 km in some of the worst weather ever. Rain, strong winds, hills, darkness ect... Set myself a goal of 4.45 a mile. Was tougher than normal, about the last 10km was into the wind and mostly uphill.

Maybe if you ran less marathons and trained 'properly' you'd get a sub 3. You'd run sub 3 with ease if you trained for it.

Oisin, I have no doubt you would go sub 3 if you trained for it. Build has got nothing to do with it, If you have a look at the lads coming in under 3 hours in the dublin marathon videos, they are not all skinny baxtards......besides If build has anything to do with fast marathons I may as well give up now..

Believe you me you dont have to be skinny to break 3. just have to have endurance to burn. As a matter what weight are you ??

I might be shorter but I'd say my BMI is the same as yours...Probably just go for a PB in barca (sub 3:30) and leave the real fast one for later in the year. I don't wanna take too much out of myself ahead of conemarra, I have to win that bet off eddie :D

By the way you are selling yourself way short by only targetting 6hours in conn. With all your long runs you are made for ultras, 5:30 will be no bother to you.

Its 6 for the moment. See how the 50k goes in january.
If your going for sub 3.30 in barca dont go for 3.29 is my advice. When i went for it in january i went for 3.25 and got 3.24.

Dcm I think. Hip was hurting me then my knee then my leg. Hamstring joined the party then. Then my calf. All on the same leg.

What's the purpose of doing the run without water?
Avoiding food I can understand since it might improve your fat burning capability but I don't understand not taking on water when its readily at hand? I normally do my long runs myself without water but this is just because I don't want to carry a bottle.

I didnt need it to be honest. I drink loads before i start and its normally plenty.

Same run as yesterday but slower. Wanted to see how my legs were. This was after another 12 hour shift so was tired starting.
11.27 km in just under 1 hour. 5.20 km average. Legs were grand. Down to Limerick/clare tomorrow.

    Sixmilebridge marathon
Wanted to do 3.30 and also see how fit i was.
Very very tough course. 26 laps with a hill of .4 of a mile. A medium size hill that got harder and harder. Was in the leading group for the first 12 miles but the hill was draining me at their pace so i slowed. Gritted my teeth and the pace drifted but not massively. Passed one of the leading 2 near the end. Excellent organisation and a great day.
    3h25m08s.
