Hotmail blocked due to '-ERR mailbox could not be opened'

Any one experiences/experienced this issue? I got several Hotmail accounts for more than 10 years and now half of them blocked due to the above error. I raised it with MS and they say it's escalated but it's more than two weeks now so I'm really annoyed.

Basically, any email client will spit out that error and fail connecting, Web interface allows using email without problems.

Anyway, just curious if any one here has similar issues?

since you tell nothing valuable of the error you're having, i proclaim this to be exactly the same one you're having!

Have you tried the Windows Live Mail client? This connects to Hotmail using DeltaSync rather than POP3 and might work around the problem.

The exact error is in the subject ('-ERR mailbox could not be opened'). This is quite notorious.
No, I think Outlook Express will be the last mail client from MS I'm using. WM wasn't even installing on Win2000. Does it install on WinXP? And can it live side by side with Outlook Express?
I tried Outlook 2000 and Thunderbird, they both fail in a similar fashion.
