Funny you should say something like that. That's something like Tsar Nicholas said to Lenin and Stalin. "Hey you goys.. like roysh,, you've got a real chip on your shoulders or something. Just relox - or chillox. Can't you just be happy for me"

Listen. It's a terrible idea. It looks like the mankiest Daily Star or Irish Independent crap anyone could have thought up. Granted, the girls do look hot - apart from the one who looks like a blue bottle - but the minute they'll open their mouths out will come the sh1t.

    This show is **** - everyone knows it's ****.

I'm embarrassed to be Irish - it's a reason I don't own a television. Watching RTE even by accident is embarrassing - like I feel embarrassed for the people on television.

Sorry Einstein, Jtsuited is right. And I am afraid he's got something that your well connected daddy can not buy you; street credibility and coolness.

Jeff, I've got an idea for your next blog post. Whingy well-connected Irish whores with zero credibility - who whore themselves and then whinge when people call them whores.

RTE, could have done something gritty and cool - followed something real. Instead they do this "hey, ma look at me I'm on television" ****.

Haha, I have no idea how anyone can view me as cool. Yeah I gots street cred but that's mainly because me and my homies be ballin when we big pimpin out on the mean streets of Dubberlin.

Actually, I am doing the next post about the absolute bullsh1t getout clause of 'haters be hatin'. I'll make sure to mention the Irish version of it.

yes. that's right. write off the fact that anyone with an IQ over 85 will have their blood boiled by this sh1te as haters.

Pathetic rubbish, and no, the end doesn't justify the means.

And what exactly do you know about the end if you have never been there and back? Well? Create your own destiny or at least allow others to do so.

You sound like you do have a beef with mindless TV but if you didn't care for it you wouldn't be bothered having too much of an opinion on the matter, you seem like you are putting down those of us who enjoy this type of thing. I watched the hills and I am not ashamed to say I did, what am I not cool enough, is my IQ so low that I am not worthy to be loved and respected because every now and then I dip my fingers into trash? I'm too tired to try and keep up with 'Lost' episode 77 (still in the jungle with mysterious bald guy) that's as rubbish and as predictable as the next thing.

In fact your response is as predictable as Fade Street, someone on this forum will have defended or given their commercial taste and integrity based on their righteous opinion the same way Fade Street has cliche characters. You are not of a better pedigree than any other human on this planet based on your taste for television and music. Your perception might very well change one day and believe this or not you may just find yourself enjoying things you used to sneer at.

I watch documentaries on Space, I find it fascinating and on the other end of my spectrum I watch sluts bang it out on porn tube, and that's tacky trash right?

Humans watch everything and some like and dislike it and have your say but you have said some hurtful things in your post. The part about 'bottom of the barrel' is really uncalled for. Why would you say something like that?

Do you not eat trash now and again? Does your genital pipe smell good all day long? Because I can predict that you are going to say I am missing your point and try an justify yourself? Do you know why? Because you are going to feel like you have to defend yourself? And do you know why you are feeling like that because you know you have brought a bull **** cocky approach to the discussion along with all the other morons who think they are 'the ****' for having their commercial tastes so well refined. You can have an opinion but please remain positive otherwise it comes across as immature.

J90 are real players, respect that they got on the show and big up the lads.

You can do what you want with your life, if you choose to put more sh1t into the world (and you know it's **** btw), fine by me. But don't be so absolutely silly to call people who rightly call it out for the dreck that it is as 'begrudgers', 'haters', etc.

Fade Street serves a purpose of furthering the careers of people of very little discernible talent, intelligence, or usefulness to a society.

It would have far more merit if I could crack one off while watching it.

you know there was a follow up made by TV3 on the diary of a debutante thingy?
Needless to say that gimp Mica had gone through some well expressed opinions of her by the public and had clearly been knocked down a peg or two.
Which is what should happen in a society where free speech is like, a right or something.

If you do something and it's put in the public domain (and you don't get much more public domain that national bloody television), well then you have to take the bad with the good. And with this particular series, I can't imagine any compliments coming the way of those vacuous tossers anytime soon.

speaking of great porn sites, if you're feeling man enough for it, I thoroughly recommend er, the project of the stile on their international domain (I am NOT getting a ban for posting a porn link so use your brains if you're curious - i'll take a ban for anything but shilling or porn)

edit: just to clarify by 'thoroughly recommend' I mean if you think you've seen it all, and our looking to challenge your concepts of what constitutes good taste. If you end up traumatised it's not my fault right.

dav nagle, I do know what you do and do wish you all the success in the world. Ireland is seriously short of pop producers. Keep doing what you're at - hopefully, you'll eventually hit on something.

If you want respect and admiration, there are no short cuts. Make a great pop record.

tbf, there are a few radio programmes that are of a decent quality (and fulflill it's roles as a state broadcaster) but as far as television goes, I actually think Nationwide is one of their better offerings. Yes folks, Nationwide is probably the current pinnacle of our state broadcaster's public service.

Cheers again to Dav, stepping out of this I would say....

Free speech etc... we're to busy to get into the show as serious as the 4 girls and im happy to have been given the chance to do it and as a band just having MCD at your gig without having to ask was a blessing.

Good Luck to the show hopw it does well for them, I guess we could all just watch more stuff about recession etc.. and moan about everything rather than just getting off your ass and doing something positive :)

PMI, loose 200 credibility points. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 credibility points. Go straight to jail - credibility jail.

Explain, in what way Fade Street is positive?

I agree with you. But that radio and nationwide happen because they're not sexy enough for the big wigs to get their paws in to ruin them.

The big mistake RTE always makes is trying to compete with foreign and satellite channels - if we want to watch the hills we can switch to MTV. We're a small country - RTE should focus on local stuff and cultivating local producers. For a country the size of Ireland they have a massive budget - but that money never ends up on the screen.

RTE itself is like a little village. Like Bus Eireann - everyone is related to each other. It's like a family farm.

Just up, after reading the thread, well done lads, some great performances.

KRD, in particular, you really delivered the goods. Bit of a late entry into the game, but you really represented, like a young Ray Houghton.

JT, solid performance as always, throughout the entire 90 minutes, like Paul McGrath at the back.

I take issue with Fade Street because I regularly have great ideas for TV shows which go unappreciated by the world at large. I mean, I came up with series which followed the exact same format as Fade Street a couple of years ago, except instead of one of the girls, I would have cast a middle-aged rapist. Any bad stuff he did, we could have just said that it was scripted and didn't "really" happen.

Oh dear...well my 3 lettered named friend, any of the "coolness" or "Street Cred" I have was well earned by generating my own chart Success and making a living from pretty much playing music.

And in response to how Fade Street was doing anything "positive"...the reason this thread existed was because the lads from j90 had an opportunity to get their name on TV. If one person goes to their site/fb page...it's been positive for them. If one boards member reads this thread and sees their name...it's positive for them...

Obviously if the production company approached jtsuited to use some of his dj music, he would have said "No way, this is embarrassing, I don't want any of my music exposed in that way..."

For the record, I never once said that I thought the TV show was good, but I'm open minded enough to see that if someone offers you an opportunity you take it.

I don't think you are quite getting the fact that even to be associated with that show is an embarrassment. What is more, why on earth would you want to attract the attention of people who watch that show is beyond me: they are either a) people in shock and disgust, vowing to never see it again b) mindless idiots, much like the characters on it.

Even more baffling is how on earth you think that THIS thread is a positive thing for them...

    "DJ Music" - just priceless.

For the record, I never once said that I thought the TV show was good, but I'm open minded enough to see that if someone offers you an opportunity you take it.
I hate to repeat myself but here goes: even to be associated with that abomination of a show is an embarrassment. The only opportunity I can see them having is getting some quick cash while it lasts and be forever associated with what I'm pretty sure is RTE's worst show to date.

I think this thread is the perfect opportunity to unveil Fiachra's Law. Based on Godwin's Law except based on Irishness and Begrudgery:

"As an online discussion on all things Irish grows longer, the probability of the mention of Typical Irish Begrudgery approaches 1."

In other words, given enough time, all discussions on things Irish —regardless of topic or scope—inevitably end up being about Typical Irish Begrudgery.

Chart success? "Pretty Much" playing music? Please, elaborate...
I make my living gigging and working in my recording studio...

I don't think you are quite getting the fact that even to be associated with that show is an embarrassment. What is more, why on earth would you want to attract the attention of people who watch that show is beyond me: they are either a) people in shock and disgust, vowing to never see it again b) mindless idiots, much like the characters on it.
Thats all in your opinion. Rest assured lots of people that the show is actually aimed at aren't a member of this site. And even if they were, would never admit to watching it due to the onslaught thats happening in multiple threads.

    Exposure. It's not rocket science.

Probably. I never said that it wasn't.

My point here is that this show is diabolical and we should really be putting a stop to this "any publicity is good publicity" attitude. It's exactly this socially acceptable nonsense, along with "Fiachra's Law" that has filled our world with the talentless, bullshyt sellouts that we are forced to listen to, watch / actively avoid every day.

you're not forced to listen to or watch anything. there's a wealth of channels out there, stick on discovery or history and learn about our world if you dont like fade street. or there's the big off button on your tv. im pretty sure that as humans we've evolved enough to be able to press the right button on our remotes if we desire?

some people are going to like this program and those people are as entitled to be entertained as much as you are.

your opinion, like everyone elses, is really only valid to yourself.

yes cause clearly sharks and nazi's is ALL they're about, DESPITE a wealth of informative historical/educational series on regarding barbarian tribes, ancient civilisations, rome, egypt, world wars, the universe (starring the genius that is hawkins!), geology, biology, crime, survival... the list is endless.

and all you see is sharks and nazi's?

I can absolutely see no way in which Fade Street is doing something positive.

RTE doesnt seem capable of making programmes with any originality. Other TV stations around the world make original shows - the BBC for example, Discovery etc etc. RTE seem to just mimick (badly) concepts that are already well used and uninteresting.

Fine, but whether you actually watch it or not doesn't change the fact that RTE are taking a yearly licence fee from you to produce crap exactly like this.

What I can't stand about it all is how poor an imitation it is of American television. I can't stand American "reality" TV. The engineered situations, the heavily edited close-up reactions, the "heart-breaking" stories of rags to riches, nobody to somebody, fat to skinny...that style is creeping into TV everywhere this side of the Atlantic, this is just another terrible attempt to reflect it.

I'd rather watch something low budget and original from RTE than watch another episode of the bad imitation that is Fade Street.

Erm, I'm slightly worried that so many people on this forum think the Discovery channel is some bastion of cerebral endeavour.

Oh and I'm going to do a massive U-turn on this and say how wrong I was. I have been misled about the purpose of music. I thought it was humanity's great communicative craft. The mathematics of emotion, the emotiveness of stucture.

And all the while, it was about exposure and being known by as many of the ignorant masses as possible...how silly of me.

Oh and Einstein, a few weeks back, I publicly declined an oppurtunity for a national radio station to broadcast my 'dj music' (there's a good bit about it on the clubbing forum should you need to check). You know why???
Because the terrible lowest common denominator show that would have been a vehicle for said 'exposure' would have benefitted by my involvement.

If you are interested in making money, do something that doesn't fill the world with sh1t.
Doctors, lawyers, scientists, etc, are all of far more benefit to society than another wedding covers band uncomfortably straddling the dodgy world of wedding covers bands and actual original artists with absolutely no motivation beyond 'we just want to be famous'.

Fame does not equal success, to anybody outside the demographic that Xfactor is aimed at. Or anybody with half an ounce of sense.

Glad someone finally brought up the Nazi's. I thought we'd go to a few more pages.
